What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart

He's right about being able to say that. For the record, I put a disclaimer that it wasn't my work.

And I'm not saying it won't work on 1.1 or 1.2, I'm just saying it seems to me to not be that absurd that it wouldn't work with a GCN version. Being on a disc instead of a cart, they probably had a whole new way of saving the textures.

errr i don't think so... i think its more likely becoz its a E 1.2 rom.. instead of a U 1.2 rom

and no, hes wrong.

whether he created them or not, they are still made to replace the textures in a copyrighted product, claiming ownership on them could constitute theft of copyrighted art, as in the end, they are still made to resemble the original work.

you'll find that copyright law, is vast enough to allow nintendo to claim your work as thier own, becoz of the method of how you created them in the first place. ie dumping the original textures and saving them as modified versions constitutes copyright theft.

technically the same goes for Plaguerism,.. when you copy a piece of information and just change a few words. its the same thing.

get over it.

you can't claim ownership of it, in any way. its not yours, and neither is the game that it works on.

really who cares where you can download it from as long as its getting to people... sometimes i wish people weren't as materialistic as such to give a crap if someone mirrors thier work then has a crap about it.

get a life. theres plenty of other people who could've done this pack better, who wouldn't give a crap at all about others mirroring it.

If there are so many other people out there that could have done this better, where are they? All I've seen are people using photoshop filters or copying the textures from other games.

All of my work is original, and therefore belongs to me. I only provided them to the community because I chose to, not because I owe them anything. My textures are not explicitly linked to a copyrighted rom, and they share nothing in common with the original rom textures. The closest these could be considered would be fan art. And even then I have rights to the art that I made, just not the IP of the zelda themes and trademarks.

And as far as plagiarism goes, this would be something along the lines of me reading a book, and then writing a thesis paper for it. It's not going to be sold commercially, so it is not like I am writing a book about that book.

I'm sure the other people that had their work put into these packs care, too. You should learn to respect that.

And, I do have a life. That's why I haven't been making any more textures for this.

So no download links equals no one gets your pack, so whats the point of even hosting it if your not even gonna allow anyone else to download it? At least post some new download links.

squall_leonhart , you need to read up more carefully on copyright law.

if xenobond has produced textures form scratch, they are his Intellectual Property and he has full rights to control how and where they are distributed.
it doesn't matter if they are influenced, by or based on any product by anybody else.. nintendo doesn't own copyright on grass textures or wood textures. at the end of the day thats all these are. the fact they are used for zelda is totally besides the point. the textures themselves BELONG TO xenobond. they are his intellectual property. end of story.
and unless you are a lawyer or can produce some actual legislation to back up any argument, I suggest you just leave the issue alone.
thats just some advice to save you making a fool of yourself.

picartman...
I suspect the links are not available yet because its not finished.
when it is finished it will most likely be available.

I was hosting them all through Fileplanet. True they do require that you register with them before you can download, but if you use the gamespy arcade, or battlefield 2142, or several other games, you'll already have a username registered with them. You only have to pay for their premium services and express downloads. The file doesn't ever expire, unless I remove it (unlike some sites that require the file to be downloaded at least once every 30 days or it's nuked.) Enough of you guys complained (and/or didn't realize you didn't have to pay for it) so I just took the downloads down.

I was also going to put it all into one download, so those that did have to wait in the download queue on fileplanet would only have to wait in one line.

And, since I have stopped working on this for Rice's plugin (because the plugin is not finished, and nobody wants to take the source and actually work on it), it would be coming out for use with Jabo's plugin with the new version of PJ64.

ooh.. does that mean the work I am doing is for nothing?

hope not...
I'm making good progress. :alucard:

I actually came on here now, to post a screen of heavy work in progress.

so far, I have been setting up the texture grids to get it all aligned and that... and just today I started working on textures for my cg model.
I did a basic render of just the room... but I got the pixel dimensions wrong so this looks a bit fuzzy..
but at least it gives you an idea of what I'm up to :)

No offense, but it is easily told that you have not read the recent posts.

A new download will be up for Project 64 1.7 eventually. For now, there may still be some working links on page 35.

Drag-5: Looking good! Something you may want to consider is rounding the edges, if you know what I mean. Make it look less like a room and more like a hollowed out tree trunk. Other than that, it looks great and its awesome to have someone working on that, seeing as it's the first thing you see every time you start the game as a child.

Hey!

This is my first post, but I've been following the project on and off for a while now, and I think it's amazing, the work you're all doing! OoT has been given a new lease of life, and I look forward to playing it through fully again when this pack is done.

Anyway, the reason I'm posting is because I have a couple of questions - and sorry if these are off-topic or stupid. The first is: is there any way to insert the textures into the actual ROM, so's that we can use methods like the PSO exploit and Phoenix to play the game with the high resolution textures on the Gamecube? Or so that I can cut out the texture loading time when I start the emulator?

The other thing I was wondering was whether it was possible (and if anyone is attempting) to change the music in OoT? Like replace the original background music with orchestrated versions from Hyrule Symphony or something?

Thanks, and keep up the good work!

im sorry but you are not understanding at all, the file names themselves are protected under copyright law, and having them changed with higher res or different textures is a breach of the law, it might not stick where your from, but then,.. nintendo america might find a way of making it stick, as in that country, the national pasttime is sueing someone for some reason.

You really have no idea what you are talking about, do you.

The file names are generated based on the location in memory of the rom they originated from. The video plugin that Rice made dumps out the original textures and names them with the rom name + the location + texture type.

Why don't you bug someone that is actually breaking the law. Someone like Djipi, who is straight up taking textures out of other games and other artists (without their permission) and putting them in packs for people to download. That's where you'll run into the trouble. He's actually taken copyrighted game material and put them up for download.

Please, shut up. Go bother someone else. Go play through Zelda propoerly like a normal person. Go jump off a bridge.

hmm.. I'm not sure what you mean actually...
do you mean where the floor meets the wall? like.. adding some lumps or something?

if thats what you mean, I dunno because I think it may look cool, but some zelda fans might not like changing too many things like that.
maybe it's best if I just keep it as close as possible?

go fk yourself, quite a few textures from this pack i have noticed are taken from already existing images.

fact is... no body gives a crap if you made these textures, they are made to replace textures from a copyrighted game so unless you want to go and make your own game to use them in STFU.

Im Bored

To the guy above me... seriously mate, leave it alone. You are apparently wrong according to quite a few people, just back down and if you dont agree with something then dont contribute. Simple as that.

Yes and no. I know someone (and this sounds like a typical message board penis enlarger but bare with me) who's talked about something that would sort of enable that. Its not a replacement as such, but its a seperate stand alone program that ran specified mp3s when certain code in the N64 game running met certain circumstances.

I should imagine that, it would be possible to write that when the game is running XXX soundfile, it loads an mp3 of the equivalent soundtrack.

Ill look in to it and ask him about it, but we werent looking at it in a zelda sort of way. Bare that in mind.
Kman, is there any dungeons that specifically havent been worked on yet? Before I broke for christmas I did some work on the Spirit Temple but I notice youve done quite a few of those textures already. Im more than willing to contribute some work, and while it may not be up to your standard, the offer is there, im more than willing to do a dungeon or two.

You know, I've been on your side in this arguement until you start making accusations about Djipi, who hasn;t even said one word to you abut this. What game do you think he has copied from. Why can't you just worry about your pack and leave other people alone. You have this superiority complex that is very obnoxious. A lot of people love Djipi's pack, and I count myself as one of them.
