We're only a few months away before the first of the next next next next gen consoles reach us, and I for one cannot wait for the 360 to hit the stores. Are you gonna get one?

At your service, dood!
I'm going to buy all 3 of them, I like owning them all, buying a PSP the day after launch in the UK.

(That is, the XBox 360, Revolution and the PS3)

Why not, sell your Xbox and Get X360 since it is backwards compatible.

Not all games will work via the backwards compatibility at launch, so it's a better idea to keep your current 'box. XP

I might get it for Xmas, since it's launch is so close. :)

[Has anyone heard anything about the 'Free' LIVE? There's rumors going around about it only being operational on weekends. -_-']

Ok - just to clear this one up.

There are two types of Live account for the Xbox 360, namely Gold and Silver accounts.

The Silver account is the free one. All it allows you to do is access Xbox Live so you can browse the online marketplace and download content to your 360, etc. You will not be able to play online using the free Silver account.

The Gold account simply is the one you're using right now on Xbox Live. So when you transfer your account over to the 360, it'll be known thereon as a Gold account.

I'm on the preorder list at the local EBGames. As soon as the next shipment comes in I get mine. I'm actually excited for this XBOX.

I'm getting one for sure. But I have an excuse, I need to test the machines we're selling. :p

Getting a PS3 too probably, or my brother's getting one.

Same here. I'll get the Revolution as well. But it's the 360 that I'm by far most excited about. The online community that it will offer sounds amazing.

I'll probably end up with all three eventually, but I'll be damned if I pay the rumored 500 dollar pricetag for a PS3. I will buy a Revo as soon as they come out though. Love the Ninty.

Uhhh... wtf? I was under the impression that the free one, silver, was totally playable but the gold one simply handed down more services. Or perhaps that's for the current xbox? I'll be damned to pay for online play.

As for the 360 itself... It does seem likely I'll get it. However... it really depends on the price.

ill probably be getting one in a few years when the price is down and theres a substantial library of games worth playing. i just got an xbox a year ago and given the time i spend on games lately im in no rush to run out and get a 360.

Nope. There was a lot of speculation about the two accounts, but the official word from Microsoft is as follows.

Connect your Xbox 360 to your broadband connection and get instant access to Xbox Live Silver. Express your digital identity through your Gamertag and gamer card, talk with others using voice chat, and access Xbox Live Marketplace—all right out of the box, at no extra cost. Upgrade to Xbox Live Gold and enter the exciting world of multiplayer online gaming.

So basically, if you've got an Xbox Live account on the existing Xbox, then it will become a Gold account when it gets transfered to the 360.

I'll be damned to pay for online play.

To be fair, it is only £40 a year, which equates to something like £3 a month. And I for one would much rather pay that and get a quality online experience with reliable servers, than go on the Playstation NET, which is free, but rubbish.

As for the 360 itself... It does seem likely I'll get it. However... it really depends on the price.

A statement echoed by many, I would imagine. But I think Microsoft has learnt a lot by the Xbox and I don't think they're dumb enough to think they can charge what they want at launch day. I'm expecting the thing to be between $250 and $300, which I'm sure you'll agree is very reasonable for a launch price.

And - worldwide launch too! Hooray, us Brit's won't get fucked up the ass for once! :D
