Created by DH & Hykem (and joined by a set of developers), RPCS3 is a multi-platform Playstation 3 emulator that aims to become as complete as possible. It was originally a simple disassembler, but it has since evolved to the point of running the entire PS3 commercial catalog, becoming the first fully functional emulator of the console. However, this performance requires a particularly powerful machine.
Indeed you will need nothing less than an Intel Comet Lake (10th) or AMD Zen 3 (5000) or more CPU, a recent graphics card type nVidia GTX, high-performance memory type DDR4/DDR5 (min 8 GB / recommended 16 GB) or a recent operating system to hope to launch games in a relatively fluid mode (but be careful it depends a lot on builds and games).
Several renditions are available to you: None, OpenGL, DirectX12 (Windows 10 only) and Vulkan (which aims to eventually replace OpenGL and its derivatives by making more efficient use of modern computer architectures).
About the name of the emulator, it is an abbreviation and a combination of PPersonal Cmount (PC) and PLayStation 3 (PS3). PC + PS3 = PCS3.
What does the R mean? DH and BlackDemon remember that he represented Rbecause in 2011, there were only fake Ps3 emulators. Then, at one point, DH (from Ukraine) began to say that the R represented the word Russe. In addition, Nekotekina, who joined the team at the end of 2013 and quickly became one of the greatest developers of this emulator, is from Russia. So RPCS3 now means RUssian PPersonal Cimpute Station 3.
This version (which is not to be considered stable) that will be called “landmarks” in the sense that it is officially published on the official website (which changes regular builds called “WIP” or “GIT”), is only available for 64-bit processors. No changelog unfortunately.
Changelog:

Note that the compatibility list continues to progress (see here) constantly.
Note that 100% of the games are executable now, even if they still have bugs or that some crashes, all can be launched, it is a beautiful feat that must be emphasized!
