Well I did download it from here, now upon further investigation it was in a shared folder that was created to put it onto my other computer, not in the normal directory. Funny thing is that the exe is infected not a dll or a file that can be modified. exe's for the most part can not be modified. Hmm not sure will check into it some more.
It's also possible that the exe has been contaminated by a virus you have on your computer that has nothing to do with pj64 originally. But if it's the only file on your hard drive with this virus and you have never seen it before, it's probably a false alert.
I use Grisoft's AVG also and it does NOT identify the PJ64 EXE or any related files as a virus. FYI, AVG is a quite excellent AV program. Using it for well over 3 years on my personal system and not once has a virus gotten through. I know there are better ones, Nod32 comes to mind, but for free, AVG is awesome.

I'd suggest you use Windows update - that virus came from a very old security flaw, that was patched in like 2003.

i use AVG, i think it's right, but that that virus got there after you decompressed pj onto your hdd and ran it...

yep, your system was compromised seperately its nothing specific to pj64.

Around six months ago, I quit using AVG and went with Norton Internet Security. I don't remember the name, but AVG kept informing me about this one virus - yet when I tried to look it up, they had no such information (Symantec had none either). Since going to NIS, I surfed the net the same way as before and got no warning. A virus scan revealed nothing as well.
You get what you pay for.

Because the patch may not even work, the only solution is the get a firewall!!! It infects PCs the same way like the dreaded Blaster virus does.

I've no doubts that AVG can find "Win32.Hidrag". Otherwise, no one would bother having it. It's when it reports a false positive that causes me concern - I don't know about you, but I've better things to do with my time than to stop what I'm doing to eradicate a virus that doesn't exist.
