actually it could be argued that the tall towers indicative of the USA are actually "Cathedrals to Capitalism" they are just as indicative and symbolic of American society as St Pauls cathedral is of London after the great fire

Again, theres a difference between being a terrorist and being anti-american. The majority of the french are anti-american for example, yet they aren't terrorists. And so far as dismissing what you say, I can't see anything concrete against building a new WTC other than anti-american sentiment. You claim money reasons, yet I fail to see any reasoning behind that. You also claim safety reasons, and I only see cowardess behind that, if not simple anti-americanism.

In other words, you have not given any valid reason of why not to build a new WTC, the only logical conclusion is that you don't want to see it built because of your anti-american sentiment.

Right, so far your only argument about why we shouldn't have a new WTC is this:

Lets recall what has been said in this thread:

you cant fit as many offices in a flat building as you can in a tall building. it's just common sense. they're using the limited space they have to create the maximum amount of jobs.

This is the best thing about Americans not the worst. The spirit to not to do something because it is easy, but because it is hard, and building something will be enjoyed by millions should not be criticised.

The fact that its the largest is almost irrelevant, its what is to be done around it thats impressive. I think the whole ground zero redevlopment is tasteful, irrespective of the height of the tower they are building.

Now, skyscrapers serve a purpose, they provide several advantages over spreading several smaller buildings.

WTC was the home of countless businesses, aka jobs, as the next building will be. It's not as if the lack of having a WTC doesn't have any adverse effect on the economy.

Oh, and BTW, our federal government does not pay anything for these buildings to be built.

Clearly there is a point. Now, you are complaining that we are building it. Why?

In all honesty, you have failed to make any points. The only logical conclusion is that you don't want it to be built because americans are the ones building it. Does anybody here disagree with that logic?

What happens if the new one gets built and destroyed then, build another? After the first attack I would have thought some common sense would have been used but hell its your money to waste

Of course I know But, it's not that easy You divided it into two complaints about the US.

The first one:

Because it wants to rebuild the WTC.

Now, the whole thing about being anti-american, I actualy think its kinda funny. Take this into consideration. Lets say that the US did everything right; in orthodox terms, the US didn't make a single mistake, and every country we have had an influence took a path for the better. Guess what? We would still have people who hate america. Why? Because that would mean that we have all of the power. Naturaly, many people will not like that. They will always find something to complain about, because everybody wants power, and they certainly do not want the US to have all of it. And I am not saying they shouldn't either.

But, the US is not perfect, and I never said it was. Mistakes do get made. This is simply unavoidable no matter what. The anti-americans in this scenario become the devils advocate of our actions. We need a devils advocate, if we didn't have any, we would probably be making even more mistakes. Hence more reason why I don't care about anti-americanism.

hehe..its not even gonna be the biggest building, there is a 460m building being built somewhere, i just read it in the paper, i would give you a location but really who gives a fuck

Well, Ostankino TV tower in Moscow is about 560m and world's tallest building is Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. There's a plans for 2km building but IMO it's waste of money.
