The fact that its the largest is almost irrelevant, its what is to be done around it thats impressive. I think the whole ground zero redevlopment is tasteful, irrespective of the height of the tower they are building.

Maybe thats how every other country in the world works, I honestly don't know. All I know, is that america does not give up on anything. It never has, and it never will. That is why we are so successful. Now, skyscrapers serve a purpose, they provide several advantages over spreading several smaller buildings. Now, maybe your logic is to settle for less, at the expense of advancement, because you are worried about physical risk, but thats not how we work. We move forward in spite of any danger. Apollo 1 burned, so we made Apollo 2. The origional twin towers weren't designed to take a hit from a 757, but we do have both the technology and the ability to make it so. To add to that, airport security has increased massively since 9/11. So, again, why shouldn't we?
AlphaWolf: US can really build has much tower as they want, nobody cares. But we can still be surprised by this right ? it's not against USA is it ???
All i can say is that i wouldn't like seeing such thing being built in my own city coz i consider it as total waste of money and i wouldn't like to pay for it... Considering US has still around 13% of people below the poverty line, maybe they can build smaller towers and help them.... Now, such stupidity isn't exclusive to USA don't worry, chinese are also building a similar project...

WTF guys!!! :doh: I just posted this because this new WTC design looks innovative and cool, no matter if this fucking group of buildings are going to be constructed on USA or Europe (or in San Jose, Costa Rica LOL :happy: ) you have to admit it, that design is somehow modern, now I want you to know that I'm totaly desagree if USA atacks Irak ( I must say that) but this is not the topic, and I return here and I see this thread of the new WTC turned out into a War topic.
On 9-11 a big city lost some buildings, why don't let them construct some new ones if they want? that's the point, now if you wanna still discussing about war and Irak...

WTC was the home of countless businesses, aka jobs, as the next building will be. It's not as if the lack of having a WTC doesn't have any adverse effect on the economy.
Oh, and BTW, our federal government does not pay anything for these buildings to be built.

all you guys keep saying that buildign a tall building is stupid because it's just gonna get hit again. but you fail to remember that the Pentagon , that SHORT SHORT BUILDING IN COMPARISON TO MOST, also got hit with a plane. so (to quote every lying female) size doesn't matter. so build it high or build it low. if someone wants to bomb it they will bomb it no matter the height.
