Also how do you know that your not going to hell, again no offence but your views in some cases are very very ignorant you say you have the right religion everyone else is wrong and will go to hell. How do you know your religion is the right religion how do you know Allah is the one true god? because you have been taught that and brought up to believe in it

good point, wether or not the events in the book are true or not, the ONLY reason he believes it is the way he has been brought up... and he will never stop believing it either, because it has been bred in as an integral part of his life

why insult the people who have faith and believe in something?? i have my beliefes and im not here to judge anybody elses. notice in all my posts i dont bash anyone who doesn't believe what i do. i simply give my point of view and move on. once this thread got personal it got stupid. if people cant just accept the fact that "ok he's Christain, He's Muslim, He doesn't believe in God" then why talk about it. if it cant be done respectfully then it shouldn't be done at all. that's the problem with the world today. . . but i wont get into all of that.

not at all i'd say. its called 'the creation of earth' and all the stuff about the big bang. there is no god required to form a planet that can support life.

notice that either religious ppl fight among each other bcoz for example they're protestants and catholics...all the mess in ireland just bcoz of religion - or that atheists are being attacked. without religion there wouldnt be much left to fight about in many parts of the world.

No one insulted him. He was the one saying we would go to hell remember? Now, this is a discussion, you have to view all sides of the argument. He has not tried to see any other view, only what he has been taught, so it throws the discussion off.

I went over a certain chapter in my psychology class that delt with human behavior and development. IN this chapter we discovered a girl that when born she was tied to a toliet, tied arms, tied legs, and her mouth was tied shut. She was like this for 12 years, complete rejection from the parents, they never spoke to her or did anything with her except feed her food twice a day. Some how a person gave an inside tip to the police and child protection agency and took her out of her imprisonment for almost over 12 years. When she was reintroduced to the "real" world she found everything to be new, food, speaking, the ocean, music, anything you can think of as a twelve year old she found EVERYTHING to be a complteley new concept. Aparantly she had been sheltered for so many years that she was unable to grasp concepts of the world around her until she was much older and it was very recognizable that she had no exposure to the world. For her to discover the rest of the world besides the toliet and the little room she was in she had to have her eyes opened, and that happened finally for her and later in life she was never quite able to grasp the concepts of speaking and other vital things.

Now not to be insulting to Rpglover, but from the way he speaks, if he was sheltered for soo long, thats all he knows, he might know of the other religions, but he can't grasp them if he's been exposed to his for so long, its all he knows. This is what i get from the way you write Rpglover, im not saying in the future you will change, im not saying in the future you won't have room to change, but just merely pointing out to everyone else the situation it seems like you have grown up into, just an assumption

I have considered his views and I dont believe, although its more of a personal thing for me....this will sound selfish and i know people have no doubt had worse...but I dont believe that a almighty being would stand by and let all the shit that has happened to me happen.

Yes. I used to be christian, and have friends that are muslim. I have had discussions with them about this very thing, and at least they are able to see the other side of the argument.

how can you consider a view which takes into account ONLY what he has been taught reagrdless of wether or not it could be wrong? It has been taught as the absolute truth with no real substancial reasons not to besides "you will go to hell if you don't"... to quote dogma, 'what is it about organised religions that requires a father figure to say "do it, do it or ill f*cking spank you"??' This lack of free will and yet free will seems both ironic and moronic...

i dont think anyone here is doing that, RPGlover has stated catagorically that not following his beliefs will send us all to hell. Is there a greater damnation of another human being? Especially since its simply because he believes something different to others.

not entirely but it has an influence u cant ignore. everyone is shaped by the ppl that raised him. in the first place the religion u have is the one that ur parents have, simply bcoz u r not ...well... old enuff to understand wot religion is best for u - or if u want no religion at all. my parents were both not members of any church and so was i. later i found out that its a good thing and that i dont need religion or beliefs in supernatural crap. it can go the other way around as well.

he - and me - care bcoz u conflict with a different belief (its all about beliefs since there aint no proves for anything) - that there is no hell. we believe that there is no god, no hell, no devil, etc. therefore u have to respect us as well and that we dont believe there is hell - since we dont believe in anything - just that here isnt anything.
