Hey, I'm sorry for posting this in the wrong area but I'm having an emergency and the most users are coincidently in this forum. please don't flame me. I'm getting a VERY annoying error on my pc that randomly crashes whatever I'm doing and restarts my machine when I'm online. Please, don't ask if I have all the updates, what type of pc i have, or if i'm using a firewall because i DO have the updates installed, my specs are in my sig, and i don't have a firewall. just please, give me a link to a quick solution to this error. i had a VERY similar problem when i first bought my pc, but it was TOO easy to get rid of the Worm32 virus with some old program. SHOOT! IT JUST POPPED UP AGAIN! HELP ME PLEASE! HURRY UP, PLEASE......

You know there is a tech help section to this forum.

I get that aswell... I think it probably has something to do with the "microsoft.exe" that loads on startup... 'cause when I take it off it doesn't happen. It just started happening a couple hours ago to this computer, but happened before to the other computer... I guess I can look into it more later, but I'm too lazy...

Search on google for a "blaster fix" or "blast fix". Or check microsoft's homepage.

well, i already have a program called "fixblast". Is that the same thing? it's just that it's fairly old and i've used it to eliminate a different virus. sigh.....oh well....

btw, i DO know about the tech section, but NO ONE was viewing it and i need some immediate help. A temporay solution is to type "shutdown -a" in RUN from the start bar. When it's about to shut down this prevents it until you restart your pc. Give it a try.

Well, you should run Windows update, install all the critical updates and then run the fixblast afterwards.

A good advice (which i used) : press start --> run... --> type "msconfig" into the text field --> klick "ok" --> go to the "system startup" tab --> deactivate ANY suspicious programs --> restart and test if it works .

And make sure you got ALL updates .

that wont work if its a worm . these things have a way of always starting back up. follow the others advice and (if its the ms blast) go to microsoft and get the updates, theres also a section on removing it (ms blast) from your pc. It astounds me how many people dont have firewalls and /or antivirus. there are free personal firewals out there, sygate and outpost personal firewalls are both free.

Lsass.exe Quits Unexpectedly with Status Code -1073741819
View products that this article applies to.
This article was previously published under Q300038
SYMPTOMS
After you install Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP2) on a Windows 2000-based domain controller, you may receive the following error message:

The system process lsass.exe terminated unexpectedly with status code -1073741819. The system will now shut down and restart.
This error message occurs after every subsequent reboot, usually within 15 minutes of the reboot.
CAUSE
This behavior is caused by an invalid replInterval value in the Configuration container in the properties of a site link.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
260910 How to Obtain the Latest Windows 2000 Service Pack

To resolve this issue, use either of the following methods:
Change the Replicate every value by using the user interface on the site link to be greater than or equal to 15 and less than or equal to 10,080.
Use Ldp.exe or Adsiedit.exe to modify the replInterval value. Set the value within the range that is specified above.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
MORE INFORMATION
By default, site links are assigned a value of 180 minutes for the Replicate every value and 100 for the Cost value. Prior to Windows 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1), you can modify the Replicate every value to less than 15 minutes and more than 10,080 minutes. Setting this value outside of the previously stated range produces an invalid value of 65551 for the replInterval value on each site link that is not using a valid value. If this value is changed before SP1 is installed, and is not updated by using the Site Link user interface after SP1 is applied, the value may be invalid and may cause an access violation in Lsass.exe

Although the Site Link user interface may show a value of 15 minutes, you can verify the value by using Ldp.exe to run the following query against the Configuration container for a given domain:
(&(objectclass=siteLink)(replInterval>=10081))

For additional information, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
251057 You Can Add Invalid Replication Interval and Cost Values for Site Link Properties

The site link properties, specifically the replInterval value, are stored in the following location:
CN=siteLink Name,CN=IP,CN=Inter-Site Transports,CN=Sites,DC=Configuration,DC=domain,DC=suffix

NOTE: If the message box appears before you are able to log on, Ctrl-Alt-Del will NOT work and you will NOT be able to log on. You will, therefore, not be able to implement the workaround. If this occurs, see the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article for additional information:
306497 Lsass.exe System Process Unexpectedly Quits with a -1073741819 Status Code

Not sure, you'll have to be more specific with that error. Any error you find, just go to microsoft.com and search for the error # in the search bar in the upper right hand corner of their website. It'll list stuff faster than anyone here can reply.

Trotterwatch. You've always been a wonderful help, but yes, I DID do what you said. This isn't the same thing. I've been getting this message with my system startup since i attempted to patch/fix the virus. I'm currently using ZoneAlert Pro, but this is different. Thanks for everything everyone, but my final request is assistance to find out just how to remove/repair/reinstall/disable this "LSA Shell". I've looked for it in my Administrative tools and in msconfig, but it's nowhere to be found. Please help me finish off this extremely annoying problem. Thank you.
