i dont have a .cht file with chankast cheater(or in my chankast dir)
they must be using a different program i guess.

if you goto the directory that chankast is in (or where you put chankast cheater) there will be a file called code.ini

double click that to edit it to add codes to the list.
the layout goes like this:

;Game Name1
code name1 xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx
code name2 xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx

;Headhunter
Infinite Ammo 012E1E84 0000000A
Infinite Energy 002E1AB2 000000C8

ect.....

if you find a code with a long value:
example:
0DD4DA76 00000000
024DA760 0160D02C

or:
0DD4DA76
00000000
024DA760
0160D02C

put the code in like this:

codename1 0DD4DA76 00000000
codename1 024DA760 0160D02C

once you put your codes in, save the code.ini file, open up chankast cheater and select the game from the list and tick what codes you want to be turned on

documented enough? i hope it helps

*sighs* as this is a topic on SOA compatibility, i should post a problem here; basically when going underwater, you cannot see where you're going (i used the map and a lot of guesswork) it appeared to be a lot less trouble than i first thought, but i'll let others decide when they get to that part of the game. (almost done with disk 1, will let aika san know once disk 1 is complete) i use the chakast cpu at 50% now, its faster, i never even noticed that option in chankast.

EDIT: further problems (annoying) after the hugely long battle between the blue gigas (this it like 5 mins near the end of disk one) it crashed just after i gained control (but before i could save, so that was annoying, reason i bring this up is because i redid the battle, and it crashed again. i will try a third time but it takes an hour each time so is annoying.

That screen is almost like a placeholder for when it's trying to load.
You might seldom see this on a proper retail copy, but usually as long as your game and laser are fine, you should never see it. Seeing the screen appear imples trouble reading the disc.
It appears quite a lot on a real Dreamcast using the Echelon release however (decompression means loading is longer), but it's never for more than a second.

I would almost hazard a guess that the emulator just cannot decompress that section properly, or fast enough.

these are the codes in my notepad, give me credit for them:

actual character:
vyse - 00000002
aika - 00000102
fina - 00000202
drachma - 00000302
enrique - 00000402
gilder - 00000502

character 4 modifier = 014DA73EE 00000202
character 3 modifier = 014DA73ED 00000202
character 2 modifier = 014DA73EC 00000202
character 1 modifier = 014DA73EB 00000202

- the above codes should be pretty easy to understand, i have run into a problem with skies, its impossible to get past the first disk :(
crash while reciving the blue moon crystal, theres no chance of getting past untill chanka runs it better.
later all.

(have enclosed my vmu for anyone to try, it has loads of experimental/hacked saves in it including the multiple fina, the first slot is my current save file)

With the character hack, do I activate it before or after I load a game?

I'm starting skies, getting to to the load save menu. Pausing the game, starting cheater+, selecting my cheat, (character 2 Fina = 14DA73EC 00000202) checking the box beside it, ,unpausing Skies and then loading my game.

Thus far, nothing has worked. Do I have to re-save and re-load my game for the change to take effect?

As a small word of warning, if you have 99 moonberries, you will not be able to open chests that contain them, and since you can't sell moonberries, it will keep you from getting a 100% treasure rate.

Fina, this is what i do to get them to work:

start chankast, pause chankast anytime during the game (at the title menu, during the game, whatever)

then minimise it and open the cheat box:

select cheats you have added with the tick box on the left and click the box in bottom right which says 'trainer is off'. it should now say 'trainer is on'.

select chankast, unpause, go into your game save. select the stats menu in game (or if you paused chankast as this meny originally, simply close and reopen the stats menu).

you should have an activated code, eg: another fina.

now simply save your game. close off the cheat box and the game will save any characters you have added. i have found minor problems with using many gilder's, enrique's or drachma's. the game seems to crash when they use a normal attack in battle. however vyse aika and fina all work fine.

also you are wrong about the 99 moonberries. i have a code working which will modify the amount you have, meaning i can simply make it less than 99 (if i remember correctly, 63 in hex) and still get more to get 100% treasure rating.
either way the game seems screwed atm, problems recieving the blue mooncrystal, i have been using chankast CPU at 50% would this make it crash?

EDIT: moxing, please no more pictures, i'm having trouble loading them up, thanks. and i dont really get what you're saying about the codes, i have some internet pages with all the soa codes i could ever want so why post them here? i dont even think its fun to play through the game with everything super easy, thats why i am trying to make interesting codes.

Hiya guys,

Sry for my school-english ~.~

Thats a great patch u got there ^^. It would be great to be able to swap the harddrive on wich u want to create the soatp folder. Couse my C: drive isnt working properly like it should. It would take to much space to discribe my problem, and its not that important ^^ .

Well, as u guess i cant patch my files, couse the patcher is trying to access the C: drive, and its no possible on my system. So, its would be great to see a option in the future to change the drive letter :icecream:.

au revoir ...

This is what I have in my code.ini file :

;Skies of Arcadia
Character 1 Fina 014DA73EB 00000202
Character 2 Fina 014DA73EC 00000202
Character 3 Fina 014DA73ED 00000202
Character 4 Fina 014DA73EE 00000202

I cannot get a single thing to happen. Nothing works.

Thankyou for the kind comments about the patch.

Sometime over the next 3 days I will implement a selector on the SOAPatcher window so you can choose which drive letter you want to use for temporary storage. You will still need around 5GB free space on whatever drive you select. I will also make it default to C:\ because most people will want to use that. If you want to use D:\ then you will have to select that before attempting to apply the patch. I will also modify the manual to reflect these changes.

When I have performed this modification, I will upload it as SOAPatcher v3.01, so once you see that, download it and it should allow you to apply the patch.

Hopefully this will fix your problem.

Cheers for now

I have made the changes and am about to upload SOAPatcher v3.01.

I did it a bit differently than what I originally said. Instead of making a new control for the temporary location, I have chosen to make the program a little smarter. Here's how it works now:

- If you run the program from 'c:\blah\blah\SOAPatcher.exe' then the temporary location will be 'c:\soatp'

- If you run the program from 'd:\blah\blah\SOAPatcher.exe' then the temporary location will be 'd:\soatp'

- If you run the program from 'DRIVE:\blah\blah\SOAPatcher.exe' then the temporary location will be 'DRIVE:\soatp'

So all you have to do is run it from some location on a drive which does work properly and it should apply the patch fine. Obviously, DO NOT, put the program in the soatp drawer yourself, and don't create the soatp drawer either. SOAPatcher handles the soatp drawer all by itself.

The reason why I have implemented the change like this is so that the program remains uncomplicated to use. Adding controls is something I will try to avoid at all costs.

It should be ready to download around 30 minutes from now.

Hope this fixes your problem

A thought - If a soatp folder should already exist by chance (say the user has Scumware Online's Alfred the Plumber installed in C:\soatp\), containing other files, would they be deleted by this program by accident?

Yes they would be deleted. Not by accident either. I've taken precaution's to make sure the user is aware of this. The main download post makes it clear to read the manual before running the program. In the manual before the main instructions is the following paragraph:

--------
WARNINGS
--------

- This program checks to see if a directory called 'soatp\' exists on whichever drive you run the program from. If it does it deletes all of the 'soatp\' directory contents. This is because the program uses this location for temporary storage. IF YOU HAVE ANY FILES IN THE 'SOATP\' FOLDER THEN THEY WILL BE DELETED BY THIS PROGRAM. Understood!!!

I think that makes the situation pretty clear. I can make it so that the program detects whether a soatp directory exists, and if it does pick another name like soatp1, and if that exists then use soatp2 and so on until it finds one which does not exist. Over the next few day's I will implement this modification and upload the kiddie-proof v3.02

There's only so much i should have to hold the user's hand, before I'll be playing the game for them. :p I mean, the person who has not followed the instructions and read the warnings (in capital letters, no less) must be an absolute moron and IMHO deserve to lose their soatp folder.
