I don't have idea who is Jesus. Anyway, happy birthday.
AFAIK Jesus is the leading character in Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ"

Better Sleep With one eye open...
This is one of the reasons why Religion needs to die, You religious types pretty much end up wanting to kill everyone who don't agree with you. Now shut up so I can admire the Magic Fire Ball in the sky which I cannot possible understand therefore have to create rediculas stories... *cough*like the bible*cough*... you do realize the Bible was written by people who thought the earth was flat right?Better Sleep With one eye open...
Hmm... read Isaiah 40:22. For those of you who don't have a Bible handy:you do realize the Bible was written by people who thought the earth was flat right?
And another translation. (Just to prove I'm not playing favorites.)Isaiah 40:22 (New World Translation) said:There is One who is dwelling above the circle of the earth, the dwellers in which are as grasshoppers, the One who is stretching out the heavens just as a fine gauze, who spreads them out like a tent in which to dwell
Studying the original Hebrew reveals that in this instance, the word translated 'circle' can also be rendered 'sphere'. Of course, that was only a little over 2,000 years before Columbus set sail. Now, who would've known at that point that the Earth was round...Isaiah 40:22 (Revised Standard Version) said:It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like a grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in
One interpretation of that is that this is only possible if the earth was flat.
Several things bother me about the Bible. Things like Judas betraying Jesus, from what I know Judas was destined to do that, and if he didn't then Jesus wouldn't have been killed. So IMO Judas should be celebrated as a good person rather than a bad one as has been portrayed.
God's only mistake (if you can call it that - I consider it the greatest gift) is that he gave us free will. That's why we have bad people who do bad things.Another thing is man is damned to Hell for all eternity if they make a mistake, yet God not only made mistakes routinely, but when he did the remedy he used left a lot to be desired. IE people are behaving wrongly, I'll just drown them all (except 2 of each species, man and woman).
I like to think of it as the pre-Jesus God and the post-Jesus God.The Bible just makes the idea of God as egotistical and spiteful, rather than loving and forgiving as he should be.
Hospitaller:
I put no stock in religion. By the word religion I have seen the lunacy of fanatics of every denomination be called the will of god. I have seen too much religion in the eyes of too many murderers. Holiness is in right action, and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves, and goodness. What god desires is here [points to head] and here [points to heart] and what you decide to do every day, you will be a good man - or not.
Those "rewrites" are particularly helpful to those of us who don't speak Greek or Hebrew. The first translation I quoted is actually a literal (at least as far as English grammar allows) rendering rather than a paraphrase. And as I said, the original word translated 'circle' also means 'sphere'. (Look at the original texts if you know Hebrew or look at an interlinear if you don't.) What you believe is your business, but you made the accusation that Bible writers believed the Earth was flat, while it says right there that it is round (and also that it hangs relatively freely in space, rather than being supported by the mythical creature of your choice).I was talking about the Original Bible not one of the many hundred re-writes.
