feedback for v1.5 final release

If it works after a clean install and then after 1 or 2 days you're getting this problem, then this means that this is your fault,it's something you're changing in your system and you get the "failed to allocate memory" problem. Can you tell me how much free physical memory you have before starting project64? (press ctrl-alt-delete at the same time and see how much is free in task manager)Although I can see that your total ram is 512MB so it's very unlikely that you're using so much of it,so maybe scrap that, but again it doesn't hurt to watch and tell us:holiday:
And keep you hands off virtual memory, don't change it,the default 384MB is fine...
Anyway if your 1.5 only works for a day or two I'm really jealous of you because you're so lucky...Because you're not getting much of it,so there is no way to get tired of it sometime.Seriously now, about this error there must be something you're doing wrong sometime, that's why it works in the beggining and then it doesn't...Anyway I'm waiting to hear your results,I'm getting crazy over here (no joke) about this,so there...waiting :phone:

Same problem

I have the same problem!!!!

I also have Windows XP
Without SP1!!!

Processor: AthlonXP 2200+ (my second computer Athlon XP 1900+)
Grafikkarte: Radeon 9700 Pro (my second computer has a Radeon 8500 but that's not the problem!)
Memory: 1 GB DDR RAM (my 2nd pc has only 768 MB DDR RAM!)

I get the error message: Failed to allocate Memory

Is Project64 1.5. WinXP comptaible?

I hope, somebody can help me!!!
Please!!!

The physical memory (or how it is called) is organized by Windows, I didn't change the memory or something!!!

ok, here it is

my solution: format hdd, install latest video drivers, install PJ1.5, it will work.

Now, every time u install a new prog, check pj 2 see if it still works, surely is a matter of some prog with winxp that make it crash.

Till now,it works.

Service pack doesn't matter for it.

btw, right now i'm enjoy my Gamecube on my PC via S-Video cable, with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, thanks 2 my Radeon 8500 All-in-Wonder !^_^

Yeah S-Video is great. I got a new TV for Christmas and the games look so crisp. Turok Evolution looks great especially since I can finally see Slegs that are far away which makes sniping them easier. Looks almost like GeForce 4 quality. :)

Hello!

I juat want to say a quick THANK you to all those involved in making this emulator. Ive wanted a N64 ever since they came out, but i couldnt get one, and im stilll denied getting one. So i Treid emulation, and all the emulators, but i couldnt get them to work. I recently had a memory upgrade (128mb to 512mb) and I tried PJ64 again. I was Well pleased!

Now Ive got a large selection of games available to me now, the very ones i wanted when i was younger!

*goes back to playing Super Mario 64*

:pj64:

Ack! Haven't you guys heard that the WinXP SP1 is no good? For a lot of the people who've installed it, SP1 has completely trashed their computers, and many of those people still have problems even after completely re-formatting their HD's!

by the way, the solution to the "Failed to Alocate Memory" is to just open task manager and close as much processes as u can.

I've got 512 mb DDR ram and i always have to get my memory usage down to at most 85mb in the performance tab.

mmm

it's not up 2 program stealing memory necessary for pj, it really doesn't require much mem 2 run, it's a matter of prog incompatibility under xp, just follow my previous post for details.

In general, the only way to not get fixed after a reformat is to not know what the heck you are doing.

Unfortunately, there are too many people who don't know what the heck they are doing.

In any event, what is this "SP1" thing, and what does it do?

(I would search the message string, but I'm too lazy).

Failed to allocate Memory bug

I also encountered the failed to allocate memory bug. I uses win98, so this might not apply to those of you using winXP. I just found out the program conflicting with PJ64 1.5. It was the Internat program from Microsoft for changing keyboard language and layouts. Once I shut it off using Ctrl+Alt+Del, I had no prob loading pj64 1.5.
