I perfectly understand it, and my statement of "more realistic" was to affirm the the one before it was completely unrealistic. I just like the conveneince of, say, ZSNES. And by automatically switching plugins, I would only expect/want it to be for cases like "My default is Glide 64, I pick my Perfect Dark ROM, my emulator detects that Glide64 won't run it (bad example, but I mean through use of a database, not by checking for an unsupported uCode, etc.) and picks another plugin for you right before execution, based on a ranking of plugins for especially picky games, or if a game isn't particularly picky maybe picking a plugin based on system specs, other settings, or a ranking of plugins in general. By "other settings" I mean something like "If audio plugin is set to 'No Audio' assume performance is paramount, if audio plugin is set to '{Insert name of processor hogging sound plugin}' compatibility is paramount."
