Conker's Bad Fur Day-Sequel

I perfectly understand it, and my statement of "more realistic" was to affirm the the one before it was completely unrealistic. I just like the conveneince of, say, ZSNES. And by automatically switching plugins, I would only expect/want it to be for cases like "My default is Glide 64, I pick my Perfect Dark ROM, my emulator detects that Glide64 won't run it (bad example, but I mean through use of a database, not by checking for an unsupported uCode, etc.) and picks another plugin for you right before execution, based on a ranking of plugins for especially picky games, or if a game isn't particularly picky maybe picking a plugin based on system specs, other settings, or a ranking of plugins in general. By "other settings" I mean something like "If audio plugin is set to 'No Audio' assume performance is paramount, if audio plugin is set to '{Insert name of processor hogging sound plugin}' compatibility is paramount."

Doomulation

?????????????????????????
That would require an overall compability list over all games. Several tries has been made, but no one has completed one. Maybe some emulators could support this feature, but until there's a good list; there's no reason to. Unfortunaly.

Well, good examples of "completely unrealistic" pluginless N64 emulators is older Uhle,Corn (Nemu?)...basicly every pre-Pj64 emulator.
Other N64 emulators became Zilmar specs compatible, just becase of more advanced Jabo's plugins .

And that idea about database of compatible plugins
is nothing, but new.Main problem , is to make and maintain such a database, not adding support for it in emulator. When database is ready, support for it probably will be added in all active emulators. I can promise, at least Mupen64 :)

Sorry for offtopic, Neophyte,i look forward for your project,i'm a big Conker BFD fan myself :)

Maybe you should take Rice's latest plugin and modify it's source to dump the info you need.
AFAIK it supports rare games inc, conker.
IIRC it should be GNU GPL'd.
PS. don't you just love acronyms...

Yeah, I know that there have been pluginless (Not Nemu though) emulators, I meant modern ones though. Early emulators were small, very underground projects (Especially uHLE), and therefore plugins wouldn't have been useful, since the number of developers was smalls, as was the number of people who knew about the project at all. Not to mention a lack of standards (Thanks Zilmar)

Hrm, since most plugins have documented compatibilty ranked in some ordinal system (Rather than yes/no, they have 1/2/3/4/5, or Not a all/not well/alright/good/"perfect"), it shouldn't be much more than writing a script to convert those into a standard format by dividing it into however amount of categories, plus one for those that had errors (I.e. misspelled "Prefect") those could be done by hand. I know Glide64's list would be easiest to do, but not too much more could have to be done for others. And the database needn't contain all games, just games that people commonly have problems with, or games with huge problems. 50 or so hand picked ones, and as many automatically generated ones as possible. If I knew how to go about this, I would :-( .

And likewise, sorry for the offtopic, back to your regularly scheduled topic, heh.

Thanks for the info. I'll check that out later when I get the time.

You could get some people together and try and make a new pluggin but that could be more work than its worth. You could also try and work with an easier pluggin and try and chang it to work with you new conker's bfd. Then you could zip up the new pluggin with the rom. :pj64:

you might be better off just waiting for conker live and uncut, and just given in and purchase an xbox >_<, that would be less stressfull then trying to create a sequeal....

Conker's Bad Fur Day live and uncut isn't a true sequeal as it is just the old game with some additional material thrown in and better graphics. Besides, I'm going to really enjoy making this. All of the odd little things in the original that bugged me can now be fixed(like your A.I. teammates shooting you to get at an enemy. That really pissed me off everytime it happened because it always seemed to occur just when I had my shot lined up.)

oh ok well good luck with that, make sure you keep it underground though since rare/microsoft would sue the pants off of you for obvious reasons :p

I wouldn't worry about them sueing me. All you really have to do is ask them permission to use their characters and state clearly that you are not in any way affiliated with microsoft or rare. In fact, me starting up something like this would be benifical to them if I could get a community around it as it would provide valuble feedback on what people would like to see in conker's bad fur day. I'm sure I could pitch it to them in a positive light and get permission.

It wouldn't hurt either to state that it is free (is it?)
And maybe make it open-source?
Companies normally have a problem if someone is making money out of their products. I don't think they'd care if it's non-profit project.

How far is the sequel of Conker 2 Neophyte??

Sorry I haven't replied lately. I rarely browse these forums.

As for your question: Dead in the water unfortunatly. I tried both Nemu and tr64 but both didn't work. Nemu, just froze(i tried it just now. I had to crt-alt-del to get out) and I think tr64 crashed becuase of a bad uCode. There are only two uCodes that somewhat work. 0-Mario and 4-Zelda. They get me to the opening intro where Conker cuts the N64 logo in half. Only you can't see conker, his chainsaw, or the logo. All you can see is the smoke particle effects from his chain saw, and the pieces of the logo that fly off when he cuts it. Ohh, and there was the spot light. You can see that pretty clearly. After the intro it crashes. As for the other uCodes they crash outright.

If I can get my hands on the models, specifically the Character, weapon, and Multiplayer level models, I can continue work on it. Till then, I really can't continue as one of my original aims was to faithfully recreate the multiplayer levels for on-line battles and it would just be way too much work to get every little nuance of them down.

If anyone can help me to get one of the above methods(Nemu, tr64) or any other methods working I would greatly appreciate it.

I got it working on nemu and had extracted some models a while back.. only thing Is you have to sort of zoom in on them cause the models get dumped along withthe lvl geo. Though there is alot of parts of the model missing..ect that you'd have to correct. Anyway you need a certain ini to get conker to work on nemu.. ill check my folder when I get a chance and see if I can find the ini I used to get the game working.

I would be really gratefull if you could. I've been thinking about starting up on this project for a while, but I've always run into the problem of not being able to dump the models.

As for parts of the model missing, I can deal with that no problem. I'm probably going to be heavily modifing them anyway. As long as I can get the majority of the geo of the levels, I'm fine.

Oh, and have you got a texture dumper to work with Conker as well? I remember not being able to get any of those to work either. I mean, the textures really aren't necessary, but I've always admired the excellent texture work in CFBD. I can't count how many times I've thought that something was rounded when in reality its cleverly designed texture concealed its true shape(ie The butt of the Sniper Rifle. Its actually quite triangluar upon close inspection, but its texture makes it look rounded).

Hey, that sounds awsome! But can this REALLY be done? How big will the game be and will it play the same? Also, is this a PC game or a homebrew 64 rom? Will you supply us with a download someday? I'm sorry about all the questions, but you've perked my interest. Guck luck man.

Thanks NeoNight, unfortunately it didn't work. I try opening a rom with Nemu and it just freezes regardless of ini or video plugin. I know it is not the rom because I can play them in PJ64 just fine. What video plugin are you using? Have you been able to successfully dump the geo with something other than Nemu?

I really appreciate your help so far. Hopefully, with a little more insight I might just get this thing up and running.
