in Zelda: MM whenever I use the song of soaring, it shows link and it freezes the game. I can still hear the music, but cannot move or anything. I use Jabo's D3d 1.40

Is it a bad ROM file?

The fact that only the video and controller input froze,
were you getting the notorious Windows XP infinite loop
crash? Did Windows XP crash when attempting to play
Song of Soaring? If Windows XP crashes with the BSOD of:

***STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER

or Windows XP reboots shortly after Zelda Majora's Mask
video freezes, you have a video device driver problem or
even a motherboard problem. Did you check your system
event log?

Well it happens after I play the song, and after I select where I wanna warp, then it plays this little sound and the camera moves to the front but the back is all red.

No I didnt check anything because XP didnt give me an error. And I could reload the emulator nothing froze but the game.

I found it. I got this gui for it too.

I pointed it to the directory of the zelda rom, clicked "execute" and it says I have 1 of 1871 known nintendo games.

I dont know how this exactly works, I did a "scan". So does that mean its good? The name is listed in the list of known games.

goodn64 scans for roms and renames them to their proper names, for the american good dump "(U) [!]" of majora's mask:

Legend of Zelda, The - Majora's Mask (U) [!].z64

you'll have to check what goodn64 renames your roms to, that's thier real names

It renamed my file.. but song of soaring still wont work. Shows link with red background still...

Its probably a hardware issue if the rom is fine. Do I have to use a certain ucode? I know you do for the first zelda do you need it for both?

Err... I tried every different input. I dunno why its freezing... Maybe its a bad dump. I know I'm not supposed to ask for roms... but for the sake of seeing if the rom is bad or not, could someone email me a place to find a 100% sure working rom? Hope I dont get banned for this... Its not really a rom request...

just to see if its my computer or not. Please dont ban me.

what's the rom name after being renamed?
change your graphic plugin to jabo's dx6 or 7 or daedalus, or rice's 4.6.0 or glide64 .041
disable sound plugins, and come back

It doesn't sound like a video issue, and it's not a sound issue.

Try a different emulator and then come back and let us know what happened, that's the big one. Make sure that emulator is using a different RSP.DLL as well.

off-topic: What's the (M4) for MM mean?
