What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

BK Texture Project Revival

UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE!

Good evening everyone.
Not going to go into a the details, but due to many many many issues, I've had to delay the project, but I'm finally working on it again, mostly because it's really close to being finished, and I'd like to be done with it. New computer, files lost, etc.

So, quick wrap up of where we are and where I'm going next:

I'm pretty happy with the textures I've added to Loulof's original Grunty's Lair Intro files:

The biggest pain in the butt was the texture on the back wall of the first image, it had so many elements to get right it was a real test of my skills in photoshop to try and get right, but I got there in the end.

For the text files in the menu screen, I wound up tracing and recreating the whole font from Banjo-Kazooie, making it into a .ttf file and then making blank plain black letters for each, creating a template for coloring and texturing each letter for each variation that PS then recreated via automation and scripts. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out, but I need to go back and re-do the ones Loulof added initially so that they match, as I don't have access to how he did them initially. That's on the drawing board.

EDIT:
I found my BK.ttf file, so if anyone wants to use it for whatever reason, download here and go nuts :)

This image took a while, because I couldn't find any HD versions of Grunty in this pose, so I got the model from modeller's resource, imported it into Blender, then recreated the pose and elements as best I could, exported it and then split it into its 16 pieces and re-assembled them.

There were many more tweaks and modifications to existing textures, but I just wanted to highlight these ones, because they took the most work, and I think I learnt the most in creating them.

As for what's next, I'm about 90% done with the 100% cutscene, so the next release will be both cutscenes, and the final battle. I believe the release after that will be a final pass over the whole game, adding HD eyes for all the characters, and any fixes I think need addressing. For example, there are some Lair archways I'm not 100% done with, and I think the metal panels with the spiderwebs will benefit from more cartoony looking webs, but I wanted to get something out, as it has been so long between releases and I want to show some signs of life.

Download links for the original uploads will be included below for anyone finding the pack for the first time through this post, and please let me know in the comments if anything breaks, or if the DL links don't work or require a decryption key. I think I've got that sorted with MEGA, but I'm not 100%.

I really appreciate anyone who still has investment in this, and can only apologize for my absence.

See you in the next one :)

Instructions (If you've still got the previous releases, skip to step 3):
  1. Download Loulofs' Last Pack, extract its contents to YOUR_PROJECT64_INSTALL\Plugin\GFX\hires_texture
  2. Download and extract my last merged release to YOUR_PROJECT64_INSTALL\Plugin\GFX\hires_texture\banjo-kazooie
  3. Extract my current release to YOUR_PROJECT64_INSTALL\Plugin\GFX\hires_texture\banjo-kazooie

If using Glide64, keep AggressiveCRC off, it doesn't seem to play nice with the menu textures, may not have needed to update them, will remove if redundant, but again, just wanted to get -something- out.

For the improvements to Banjo, using the NTSC release, select "HD Bear" in Project64's "Enhancements" settings.
