Just bought a Saitek P880 the other day and it is the first pad ive found that has enough buttons in comfortable postitions for N64 emulation. Works great!

I have never seen a better analog stick than the one on the N64 or GCN controller.
Anything else is unaccetable to play good Nintendo Games, I even got the chance to play with the new XBOX 360 controller and I think the analog stick sucks compared to the Nintendo ones.
Most analog sticks are too soft and don't seem to be as sensitive and precise as the N64,making movements less smooth and hard to control.
Like you push it a little, nothig happens, you push it a little further, it goes all the way to the side......I hate that !
I read somewhere that Nintendo has (among many others) a special patent for the analog stick that makes it unique.
I use my GCN gamepad even with MAME games, the ones that require analog stick or dial. It's the only controller worth to use for me.

I got the (old) Xbox controllers and use an PC USB adapter and they work perfect for me including rumble support. Doesn't take any batteries and is not as heavy as the N64 with the attachment. They have 6 buttons like the N64 but you can also use the 2nd analog stick for the C buttons (which is what I did).

I'm not at all convinced that the N64 controllers have better analog sticks. Actually I like the sensitivity of the Xbox so much better. I've set the range in ngage input to 100% and was able to set deadzone to 0% which gives me more control than N64 range (there's a comment in the plugin that N64 is limited to 85%).
