Ok just a quicky. I have made a start on the website. I need a link for the latest version of the patch plus a list of names for people who are working on it for the purpose of credits.

Im taking some screenies now. They won't be in perfect shape just basic full screen shots. Do what you like of them.

Also you should mention it's not completely finished and most of the items are currently in japanese.

Eh, I don't think the information on the website is quite accurate. The game WAS released here, albeit on another console, and in fact, the game was so popular in Japan they released it 3 times:

Doubutsu no Mori (N64)
Doubutsu no Mori e (GCN, our Animal Crossing)
Doubutsu no Mori e+ (GCN, Japan only, an updated version of Animal Crossing)

Just to give you an update on the website.

Credits page added - For all those who have contributed to the site so far.

Note added regarding patch being work in progress - Thanks to Rakothurz

Also Lesch has pointer out a bug that can be seen in the bottom left screen cap. The text colour is half in black half in red. I thinks it's supposed to all be in red. Is this something that can be easily fixed?

Regarding of my girlfriends game not letting her in the houses. I was gonna post the save state but she's deleted it off her laptop! She said she'd play through it again though. So if it happens again I'll make sure I post it to you.

I still need the current link to the patch download & names of the people who are working on it. Can anyone help??

Update!

Good news and bad news...

Good news is there's a new patch! Plus, there's all these friendly mirrors for it now.

Bad news is the update is rather minor. These are mostly text changes. Colorized text should be properly colored now, and at least two looping lines have been corrected. Still, that isn't much of an update for three month's time.

Before any of you get any silly ideas though, this project is not dead. No, not by a long shot. It's just hit that nasty part where the difficult stuff is much more difficult than you thought and you have to roll back a few times because the edits you make don't or can't work. (It might also help if I didn't get sidetracked with other projects...)

Working right now on killing a few bugs. The gyroid SPEAK WITH GREAT POWER and doesn't appreciate sharing, the snowman freezes the game, and letters we won't even get into.

Still need somebody to look at the first hundred lines of untranslated text in the big text bank. It isn't as crazy as you think, really ;*)

Also, anyone who has found looping text, weird house problems, or terrible freezing bugs, please try to take a savestate and email it. Even better, send a savestate and the save game file (either .fla or .sav). Mention what happened, if you were playing on console or emulator, what emulator you were using if applicable, and whatever else seems necessary.

Hmm... a custom town editor. Well, all of that is in the flash save. Most I've tampered with were names and their 'sounds', but it would be rather neat to customize it ;*)
Patch first though.

Good work Zoinkity!

I say Zoinkity good show! Sometimes to reach your goal you must take baby steps. I can't wait until the full patch is up and running. Heck your patching skills inspired me to buy Wild World with two games it's twice the fun!

About the bugs and errors i've encountered a few and once I encounter my next one i'll send the savestate and save.

Well everything seems fine so far, except I can't download the new patch when I click on the link. I guess I'll just try again later on. I'm sure the bugs will be no problem in the long run though.

Everything is looking great ^_^

Thanks for the update. I was worried as it had gone quiet. When I click the link from here it works fine but haveing problems when I posted on the website. It opens up to xthost home page. So for now I have pointed the link to this thread but it would be great if someone could help me get the link pointing straight to the download. Good work on the update though. Ive been playing through the GC version at the moment just trying to get the lunar landscape :)

Wow! I had all but given up on my hopes of getting Animal Forest Translated into English!

Just wanted to check in...
Again going slowly. Got past part of teh snowman freeze bug. Now he freezes when he speaks, not when he's made.
It isn't worth a patch yet. Aegh, this is going slow...

I don't know how I would go about hosting a copy of the patch. I do know of sites like rapidshare but you need to subscribe to sites like that. If you know any different pls let me know.

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back on here. Its been a busy few weeks.
