Can you believe that they called the pledge of allegiance unconstitutional? I never noticed until now how much God is mentioned in government until now. If they ban it for good, who knows what could be next. U.S. currency would have to change and the constitution would also. They swear in new citizens and politicians in God's name. They give us all this crap about separating church and state when they never really did separate it. I think that people are being negative toward this since there was so much patriotism during 9-11 and it is continuing even today. Here's my question... What is your opinion on this?

mixing religion with politics is extreemley risky business, but in a palce like america where there are still a lot of people who live by religion, poloticians who do so are gonna win votes... but like i said religion would get in the way of politics because it already has its own rules about things

Actually, the original Pledge of Alegiance didn't have the "Under God" line. It was later voted in by congress. Originally it was "One Nation, Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for All." They may vote to return it to the original pledge.

I prey, not pray.
Well sure then why don't we just add "jesus be with you" and "praise be to allah" to it then?

Same thing, different religious denominations.

You know whats funny is some group tried to add "born and unborn" to the end, leaving the under god in.

Everybody pull out any American money you might have on you. now call THAT unconstitutional. and speaking of the Constitution, it mentions our GOD given rights. so do you say that the constitution is unconstitutional?

Every American should care. If your not American, Butt out!

why should they? dont they have their own oppinions? and it doesn it make any difference if there is religion involved anyways... religion if anything holds back moral and social developments by sticking to its guns 100% without change because as a religion it believes it is right, which is a bad basis for a government to operate on... we're humans can we let things evolve like nature? The uk has no constitution be we have free speech and we dont suffer an oppressive government (just stupid politics)... its my belief there is no room for religion in governing people

I think the person trying to get it removed should focus their lifeless life on something more productive like trying to stop crime or such.

Wasn`t it a Senat decission, or something of that matter?
Anyway, if it DOES get accepted, what will you do with all those dollar coins that say "In god we trust"? You`ll just throw them all away?

Im hoping it doesnt but if it does they would slowely take it out of circulation and replace each one that comes in.

heres the deal. it is not un-constitutional to say God. and it's not unconstitutional for someone to believe in God. as long as kids aren't being FORCED to say the pledge there shouldn't be a problem.

this is how this whole thing started

Atheist (of course) Lawyer (of course) has a daughter in school. she says the pledge. ALL of it and he gets mad. he wants to sue CLAIMING that his daughter gets all screwed up when she hears mention of God because her father doesn't believe. so this guy takes the case to court (to try to make a name for himself as a lawyer i think) but heres the twist. his daughter CHOSES to say under God. then he tries to say that that isn't an important part of the case when it IS the WHOLE case.
