What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

Status Check

Pretty quiet around here. Still working on Link, hit lots of snags due to some funky texture-stretching issues bla bla bla. Still plugging away. Overall, most changes will be subtle. But I think that's a good thing as it's tempting to stray from the original artist's concepts, but the way the textures are stretched and tiled makes it nearly impossible. So I'm fine with that. A few others are easier to change, like Link's gloves, which I went ahead and re-did even though we can't change the wrist/bracer part. With the right color-matching, it actually doesn't look half bad.

Found a few other fish pond textures to work on, the outside wall and poster, trees, etc etc. Finished them but I'll need to give credit where it's due for the wall b/c the original is nearly identical to one of the walls used on the buildings in Kakariko Village, which have been retextured by someone else and really do look great. I tweaked it to look correctly for the outside of the fish pond.

Not sure who made that Kakariko Village wall, so here's my props to you. I'll take no credit for the fish pond wall.

Still just that damn crack in the wall were the stream comes in. Gotta blend in that one misplaced seam. Once done, I'll upload both link and the final fish pond

Sorry Chieftain I haven't even had a chance to download and view your Zora's Domain textures. I'll do that very soon!

EDIT: Chieftain I thought more about your request for a TP-looking Link. Only thing I could think of that looked do-able was his chainmail undershirt. Unfortunately the way his undershirt texture is stretched at the bottom, it just didn't work at all. Lots of stretching on link.... too much damn stretching...

Hello,
I'm unable to download part 1 of the texture pack. The download does not start and the page eventually times out.

I'm very interested in helping with this project. I've already done a number of items that I think turned out pretty well (big vertically sliding door in temples, ladder, bridge in Hyrule field etc.).

Sure enough, it seems like something's wrong with the download... probably on Mediafire's end... hopefully it will work right shortly. If not, I will re-upload it later today.

Glad we got that worked out. Maybe there should be a backup dload link on the first post.
Anyways.

Does anyone know how to edit an indexed bitmap so that it will still load? Thanks.

Iewa, what exactly do you mean? Which bitmaps?

I'd give you details of exactly which ones you'll work on (and which dump folder to look in) but I'm working right now and can't remember them.

As long as you keep the ratio of the texture's dimensions the same (i've only stuck with multiples of 2X resolution. 4x, 8x 16x, etc) and work within that file's pallette (some of them aren't the full 16mil colors, watch closely for that), and also keep the file name the same then you should do fine.

Basically, don't change anything in regards to the file's format. Same with the PNGs.

Iewa, Chieftain has already re-mastered that area. For both old and young link:

Sorry for the delay, but I figured it would be a waste of time to release a new beta pack when I was close on another area... and here it is. Zora Domain, for young AND old Link (ice textures included, no extra charge).

Download link (mainly for death--droid, since it will be in the next beta pack, coming soon):
http://www.mediafire.com/?l1zzbqmzwma

Enjoy.

There's a list somwhere like 10 pages back and also on the first post of this thread with a checksheet of what's done and what needs to be done. I don't think it's been updated with Chieftain's release, but check it out.

I'll be moving on to Lake Hylia next (there's a few minor textures missing there) as that is the next logical step for me. But there are still plenty of other areas available to work on!

Ah, thanks Zeckron. I didn't relize it was done since it wasn't in the main download.
Hopefully this isn't done either:

If not, then I hope you like it :D

Are we doing stuff that Federelli already did? Or is the genereal hint one of "just merge the packs"?

Btw, it's Lewa (don't sweat it. easier to pronounce in your head, though).
