Aristotle's Mudlord & Rice Video

LOL - But seriously, it can be done it's just a matter of speed. Even one system can emulate itself faster than executing code. Native code can use dynamic recompilation to execute faster even with the overhead caused by it. :p But it's a lot easier to just use native code as the gains generally aren't worth the effort.

And Thanks I'll wait for the team to respond.

We can use google-only.
We can use the sourceforge svn and gooogle for bug tracker, site, etc.
We can use sourceforge-only.

Why change? The google code is simple to use.

I gave it a shot, but it loaded all textures fine and then crashed afterwards.

Rice Video works fine.

Any suggestions?

@kreationz: go for it. The plugin is gpl. You can do with it what you want as long as you respect the license. You have got my support. This plugin is clearly in need for skilled coders who have some time to dedicate to it.

@emarian: That is a known bug of the earlier builds. I fixed that bug and posted the fixed version of the source code in this thread. Maybe death--druid would be so kind to post a compiled version of this codebase, which should fix your problems? (I do not have the possibility to access an IDE atm.)

@satan666: That surely is an alternative but this is not what neither this thread nor the question is about. Thus please stop spamming! Thank you.

@gitech: feel free to publish the CRC slowdown bugfix.

Sorry to everyone for being absent that long. I am in the middle of my master thesis & having some private issues that eat up all my resources for now. But I will contribute my changes as soon as everything has been ironed out...

Keeping people apprise with your status is fine. I don't expect you to follow some religious schedule that makes you somewhat inhuman. Heck I can't even meet my own goals! LOL

Erstwhile has any serious documentation been done on the source code? If not I suppose that is far more important (too me) than fixing bugs. One thing I've learned is you make fewer bugs by documenting what it is you are doing. (That is too say if you organize it won't be as easy to mess up.) Erstwhile where is the depository for all the comits (uncomits ;) ) etc. I'm trying to play "find the source" is it in the first message at the begining? (I suppose I can look) if not I may "edit it" and put it there. What might be interesting is 'breaking' down tasks. IE someone adds comits etc checks and verifys they work someone does builds and of course people work on bug fixes. As I said before I can start a bit on the documentation (even regular doxygen output with adding comment) but like everyone else my life ... is busy (and a bit sucky).

There are no links to the source code as Aristotle hasn't replied in ages :p
The source code is stored on a svn http://code.google.com/p/aristole-video/

And no serious documentation on the source code has being done at all.
No work has being done on the plugin for awhile plus lots of people that would help greatly haven't joined the SVN like microdev

Try glide wrapper & HQ. =P

http://cid-ec92aae47a89073b.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/Emulation/Glide64?view=details

glide3x.dll is svn 10.
GlideHQ is svn 16. (build with boost 1.39 // libpng 1.2.36rc1)

BTW: Theres still loads we have to fix in SVN. I know I have to reimplement VRAM detection under Linux for gonetz and things,.....

Glide64's wrapper is heavily reliant on shaders. Whats your vid card?

--mudlord.

ATI Radeon 3450 HD
Supports DX10 so i don't think it's a problem with that.
I should try it out again just in case there was something wrong or i had stuff running.
But i personally prefer Rice Video anyway :p

Hello everyone.

I was curious to know if there is a way to run the rice 6 beta 10 plugin for texture loading purposes on Vista. I had this plugin work just fine on my XP system, but since I got my Vista laptop, PJ64 runs fine but the rice plugin doesn't. I've tried numerous rice/aristotle/mudlord plugins but none work.

I've been meaning to uninstall all of them and put back the 6b10 back in so I can show you the exact error messages but is there something obvious that I'm missing? Have I overwritten some key component after installing all the various versions of the Rice plugin?

My current specs are MS Windows Vista Home 64-bit SP1, Intel Core2 Duo P7350 @ 2.0 GHz, 4.0GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9200M GS.

I've read through all the posts in this thread and there was brief talk about the possibility of Vista being the problem... was a solution ever found?

Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Lekythos

Well, "non work" unfortunately doesn't help us much. What happens if you start your emulator with the plugin? Does the plugin work if you disable hires texture support in the plugin config?

I guess that is the case...

If I'm right than you need the fixed version of the source code I posted somewhere in this thread. It is also uploaded to death--druids cvs.

Here is the link: Mudlord6.1.4 with Vista hires bugfix (sourcecode)

Maybe death--druid has it also already added to the cvs trunk. He had the same problem like you before and confirmed that this fix solves the problems under Vista.

Hey everyone. I've been gone for a long time..I moved to Texas from California, like 2 and a half months ago, I have a full time job right now, and as of this very moment I'm very sick. lol Anyway, I've had no time to do anything with the project, and quite frankly..I forgot about it. :( I've had major life stuff and stress on me, so I hope ya'll understand.

Anyway, yes, go ahead and do whatever it is that I read about in the past posts..Oddly I can't remember. And that's great about the CRC fix. I'm going to join the Google Code thing momentarily.

Perhaps on my spare time, I'll try doing stuff with the plugin, but for now, it's mostly in you guy's hands. I have my life in mine basically.. XD

Edit: Umm..I can't figure out how to join..lmao, so someone please add me to the google source thing: [email protected]

Hi Microdev, Aristotle and everyone else.

Some new people here. Nice to meet you! :D

Here is the zip file with plugin with the CRC slowdown bugfix: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=96Y9G5XP

It doesn't contain the source though. (?)

Good to see everyone is back and then some. :)

Hope you GIT well soon Aristotle!

Later,
Jay
