Help me please, with my video card

I own a geforce4 mmx 440se and i just downloaded the rice's plugin 4.3.0 ...
when i put the option 16bitlockable i get an error

directx8 cant initialize ........

Please help me...

Do you have DirectX 8 or any better version installed?

I have your card AngelofDeath, and I get the same thing, and I have Direct X 9. Answer: use "Default" instead- that should work nicely.

Full screen feature has been broken for looong time.

But, I must say the plugin is MUCH improved. Look at this for starters. That troublesome shadow is almost gone! Well done!

Again, DKR, Conker, PD are not supported.

MK4 is actually because of triangle face culling, it works perfect if back face culling is disabled. I can make it work by adding an option to the config box, but I don't like such a solution.

Depth Problems

I'm having serious depth problems with the new plugin version.


For example, in Paper Mario, all things are in wrong depths, being in most cases Mario the most backgroud object (You can make him dissapear when passing in front of any object). And for bad luck i can only use the default (16-bit) depth. Any other crashes the emu.

Bomberman 64 the second strike almost works in this new version (in previous ones most 2d and some 3d graphics weren't visible). Only a few problems remains (text isn't visible for example).

Ohh. and sorry for my ignorance but.. I have a geforce 2. It's a mid or low end card?, and what if it is overclocked?

Congratulations anyway Rice for the great plugin.

I have seen the paper mario depth issue with DirectX, how ever opengl does not have such issue.

Ujum.. that was it, but..

Yes, I have no problems with OpenGl, except for one. My fps drop to as low as 30...

30 FPS? (actually VIs) (must divide by 2 to get the true FPS).

30 FPS= 15FPS

That means you have a driver problem.

Please download an updated video driver.

launch your n64 emulator with 3d-analyse and software t&l activated, and now see the difference in d3d :)

finally that's not really a buffer pbl :p

Alternatively use 3D-Analyse and Emulate HW T&L Caps, both work great. Not sure if there is any performance differential between the both.
