How earlier did you start using a computer?
I started smashing a keyboard when i was 5 years old, in my crappy atari800XL.
What about you?
Let's decide who deserves this year the title of "The Nerdest Chunk of Meat"!

Hexidecimal

Had both the Commadore 64 and ZX Spectrum at around age 5, and I was about 6-7 when BBC Basic computers first introduced me, then I became 'serious' when I hacked into the Teachers login in my primary school computers at age 10. Fun times indeed. Got my first actual desktop PC for my own in 1999, learning new stuff everyday.

Meh...
started using keyboards at age of 3 on a weak 386 33mhz 4mb of ram...and was a very fast typer for the age of 5...

knew about hardware and software a lot since i was about 9

started emulation when i was 12, started doing overall piracy (though not much) when i was 13

taught html to myself and created 8 websites and managed 3 forums.

guess i'm older:

i had wierd advanced versions of speak and spell i used to try and mess with, they had no real software or hardware that was configurable....
:( i mainly just broke them. LOL (don't remember what age)

age 7: i got the SINCLAIR. this crappy little plastic keyboard (membrane style! yeah early 80's!) i wrote games where you had to run from the asterisk and saved them on AUDIO CASSETTE through an analog signal. This was the only disk drive for that system!

age 9: i got a tandy TRS-80. now i could save more complicated asterisk dodging games on 7 1/2" floppies! w00t! learned the ANSI key #'s by memory during this time... (since forgotten, thankfully).

age 11: i got a 386sx, logged on to BBSes, downloaded porn pics, SIRD (stereograms), bad text based adventure games.

age 13: wrote cheesy arcade games (bust a move clones) upgraded my 386sx (extra memory! scary stuff!). wrote ansi stereogram generation programs, long bad pornographic text based adventures.

age 14: gave up computers completely for rock and roll as the "benefits" were unmistakable.

age 22: dot boom, worked for web dev company, started doing perl (badly) and lots of crap html database stuff, installed networks built quake levels, discovered emulation, napster, divx, IM, became a photoshop/gimp MASTER. (lots of it ON the clock!)

age 25: started a (since failed) computer reselling business. too much work for one guy.

age 26: got a regular (good job) teaching, trolled emutalk. :D

At this moment, the title of the Nerdiest Chunk of Meat Awards 2k3 goes to Hexidecimal!
You seem to have a natural talent to the "nerd" behaviors.
I prefer not to think about Schibo's experience... it should be too much for us... :)

I'd like to thank the academy.... I really just don't know what to say. *holds up the golden mouse award and runs off the stage in tears*

I got my first computer at the age of 4. An old IBM PC Jr.
I've played an RPG for more than 14 hours (yes i was practically dead the day after)
I have 4 CDs FULL of ROMs.
I have 112 people who I only know via the internet. (via msn, aim, and yim)
Taught myself a bit of C# .NET.
Taught myself a bit about HTML.
I own 13 gaming systems.
I live on my computer practically.
I was always the smart one people came to.
I have 5 PCs in my house.
I own 3 old computers. The Atari Laptop thingy (forgot the model name), Comodore64, and a Comodore VIC-20.
I created my own game (yes it sucked and no i wont give it out)
I practically live on 6 different forums.
I have quite a few websites. (most of them i stopped)
I spend most of my time working on my computer.
I always spend my time looking at tech stuff.
I read the product manuals.
I also have wanted to go to college for computers (won't be starting for a few years)
And I'm only 13 and know all this :D.
Downloaded tons of stuff on 56k.
Got DSL on one of the first days it came out and continued my ROM collecting.
I play D&D and tons of other MMORPGs.
I beta-test tons of things.
More games than I'll ever need my entire life.
Built my own computer.
I know my way around computers, even macs, linux, and the old OSs.

I could continue with a few things more, but i dont wanna type any more.

And yes, this is ALL true.

Hexidecimal... don't feel sad, you were the nerdiest ball of cheese for a day...
but you must agree that posty_2k3's log record of nerdity surpasses even your one... he devoted his life to obtain the academy's nomination.
In any case, you can retain your trophy Hexidecimal, you deserve it too!

I'm going to have to disaree with some of those, for one, Only A+'s in math makes you beyond nerdy it, it makes you a geek, and that, is not what you want. Teddy Bear would be for pussy, not nerd, TACOS! YES! 5 languages, only if you want to include C++ VB HTML CSS AND PEARL, virtual girl friends, no, just, no, ok, theres a limit to even nerdiness, and um? Gingerbread? That's more like Delusional. Soin conclusion:

-=THE STEADFAST RULES TO NERDINESS=-
1)Know your hardware, have only top of the line in all computer parts
2)Pimp out the PC case, because honestly, everything looks cooler when it glows in the dark.
3)Emulation is your friend, even though nintendo doesn't want you to think so.
4)Fanboyism is not an art, it's a pain, be open minded
5) DOWNLOAD DOWNLOAD DOWNLOAD
6)Know your software too, learn how to properly edit a photo, and how to debug the problem yourself.
7)Windows isn't the only thing out there, look into Linux.
8)One can never have to many games, regardless of what your parents think.
9)Kazaa should only be used for MP3's and pr0n, any real nerd/pirate knows this.
10)TACOS!
11)ASCII is cool, regardless of what your friends think.
12)There is no rule twelve, never, we don't like you twelve.
13)Support your release groups.
14)Belong to at least 3 forums, remember, the more people you can insult and piss off the better.
14)One of said forums should be namely a FLAME THE TROLL forum.
15)Anything you have ever seen on the internet has probably passed though the Something awful forums, and if you MADE it, then uber nerd-dom to you.
16)You must have at least once watched a block of anime more then 4 hours long.
17)You must have played one single game for more then 8 hours (video or otherwise)
18)You can properly execute a 'saving throw'
19)You've argued yourself out of death (AD&D Players will laugh at this one)
20)MORE TACOS!

Add to this, I'm sure I missed something.

Hexidecimal

Emutalk Bounty Hunter.
I bow to your superior nerdiness and take my place as 2nd nerdiest chunk of meat, and then plot your impending doom so I may reign supreme *sinister laugh*

lol Well Spoken Hexidecimal, but I think you missed something:

21) Trow dirty papers into the W.C and have your house full o' stinkin water
22) Create a swamp with slimy frogs in your garden
23) Say pretty things to a chubby chick only to eat her TACOS
24) Buy at least 7 posters of dragon ball gt
25) Eat even more tacos, spicy tacos, red hot chili tacos...
26) Believe that there are PS3 emulators that run commercial games flawlessly and on a 486dx (and 10mb roms for it)
27) Accidentally burned your hair somewhere

Hexidecimal, what do you think about this?
