is it possible to do this soley on the PC like using a vmu emu or something?

ok i managed to find some save files and stuff for SA1 and 2 (msf and chao files) an all of them are in .VMI format. basically, is there any way i can get the VMSbrowser to accept/import these files onto the virtual vmus? I tried the import button, but it just comes up w/ the error message...
