I plan on releasing this plugin in October. I am also going to be working closely with 1964 to provide the best audio solution for that emulator. Some of the features of 0.50 include bug fixes, a new audio code, and the start of MusyX (may or may not work). My goals with next versions of the dll are speed (god knows I didn't optimize yet :o ), 1964 compatibility and full speed, and backwards compatibility with zilmar's audio specification. Yup, I am moving away from the zilmar model because it a poor representation of audio support.

Its more than good, its superb... We've needed a new optimised audio plugin for some time... Most issues with game speed or sync seem to be due to audio plugins, and i for one can't wait for a release... I foresee close to 99% compatibilty in n64 emus within the near future !!
PJ64 and 1964 are the mutts nutts...
Thanks for the news Azi.

Do you expect this to work as well as Jabo's 1.5 on fast computers??? Just curious becuase the early HLE's are especially good on low-end P-2's and P-3's... just wondering what target group you're aiming for becuase if it's really smooth, low-end people will be pissed (not enough HP) and if it's crackly and fast, high-end users will be pissed. I'm not sure if it's possible to satisfy everyone... just curious.

well guys,
<- - - - - - - - This guy must apologize for not looking around on the web good enough and paying attention. In another thread I mentioned that the Azimers audio plugin I was usiing, the sound would get all choppy and full of static when graphics and animation would show up on screen.Say for example. On Goldeneye. You load the game, and see the trademark screen. Then the Nintendo and Rare logos spin around.then you hear the Bond theme and as you see him walking out in the eye the sound starts slowing down and getting choppy.(Thats just an example of what I was talking about. As for not paying attention,I was using Azimers Audio plugin 0.3 Old driver. And failed to notice the 0.4 version. So I get it installed and notice that 99 % of the choppiness has vanished (Really good sound) but causes the video to become a little choppy. But IMO the plugin works really good now.
The only thing I notice with it is in the game Gauntlet Legends.Even with 0.4 driver Gauntlet has extremely choppy audio,or you will hear voices and SFX repeat itself like a CD skipping.
This is on an AMD Athalon 1.3 GHZ cpu with an Ati grafx card. How do the games I mentioned above run on your computers?

Confused... I don't think Azimer could give a much clearer explination. As stated above the N64 lacks an audio/music chip.

The N64 does audio production both on the R4300 CPU and the RSP. The audio given to the RSP is preprocessed. I get chunks of information about the entire audio stream rather then the entire stream at once. So an audio frame might be 640 bytes every other vblank (vsync). I would equate this to Graphics. It would be very difficult for Jabo to dump the different models in his graphics plugin because his plugin interpretes commands and not models. Likewise, my plugin interpretes commands and not synth.

if this should be made possible, changes in the core is necessary, since it sends the actual data that the sound plugin just plays.

I am sure there are hacks I can make to "disable" backgroud music, but it would be very game/level specific. It is not worth my time. I do not know which sounds are sequenced and which are not. Even non-sequenced sounds get processed using an envelope. One of the frailties of a strictly RSP-based HLE approach. An ai* function HLE implementation would give the flexibility to do many different things (I'd even go so far to say prevent crackles on slow machines). But the audio timing / game timing would not be as accurate.

It's the only possible extra features i can think about in an audio plugin....

Relax guys! Azimer probably has the plugin ready but is testing it until the 31st October comes so he can have an amazingly bug-free and feature-laden plugin ready right when he said! :D

Heh, I think he got so tired of people suggesting that he create a plugin to replace the whole n64 audio system he left.

Thats where you are dead wrong... Of Corse Azimer has a personal life... So He just cant sit at his computer all day working on a plugin... But He Still Works on it... Dont ever say that Azimer has left because that wont be for a really long time... :plain2:

I apologize, I didn't mean it that way. (no ability to SOUND like I'm joking on a forum...) Honestly though, I would have stopped reading this thread if I were him, I'd get tired of people asking for things that I'd already explained were not possible.

I can't believe he put a date on it, even a tentative one. I wouldn't, especially with the crazy amount of possible backlash some of the nutty people here give when a date falls through.

I think he's adding one more day to the release date every time someone posts bs in this thread. :stupid:

I really don't mind the wait. You don't see me replying all the time asking it's blah blah blah, when is it going to come out? Just take your time with it and when you feel it is ready, then you can release it. Until then, peace out.

This is in my opinion one of the reasons why Azimer decided to leave the scene:
