You have accidentally attributed some of mdtauk's work and mollymutt's work to me.

22 - Emarian Work\Actions
22 - Emarian Work\Locations

Everything in those two folders are mdtauk's work, and most work in 22 - Emarian Work\Main Menu was done by mollymutt, with me doing about half of it. The Menu Letters was done by ctatumt.

The rest was done by me.

Vraiment, vraiment, vraiment bravo.

Le travail titanesque d'un seul homme (ou presque) pendant 5 longues années arrive finalement à échéance pour le plus grand bonheur de tous.

Une excellente occasion de redécouvrir un jeu aussi légendaire que celui-ci sous un jour différent.

Chapeau l'artiste !

Delete all the Zelda Textures in the Plugin folder, re-download the pack and use mudlords Rice Video 6.1.4, Glide64 and older Versions off Rice Video have the same problem for me.

Actually, this is more likely a TMEM issue. For RiceVideo try toggling "Full TMEM emulation", for Glide64 toggle "alternative CRC calculation". This happens because the texture dumping feature in the RiceVideo plugin is affected by this setting. Read 6) Gonetz's explanation in the following hires texture guide; http://www.emuxhaven.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6741

Not to forget, props to Djipi for his fantastic texture pack. His work was one of the motivations that got me involved in the GlideHQ project.

Hm, to me this looks like the classic Rice DX9 Bug. I don't know if some of Dijpis new textures have a higher resolution than 4x the original.
If they have, using DX9 verison of the plugin will lead to these textures not getting displayed.
Try using the other version of the plugin (just select it i nthe plugins config) and tell us if they show up (shaders won'T work with this version)

Hmm, I thought support up to 256x was added to the latest Aristotle-Mudlord-RiceVideo release? Glide64 can also do more than 4x; up to infinity size if the hardware can take it.

I think you need the european version of the rom, when I tried to use the texture pack with the US version some textures seemed not to be loaded. Try searching in google something like "legend of zelda, the (e).

Extract the files (with winrar, winzip, 7zip, or other extractors) in the following directory:

(...)\(project 64 directory)\Plugin\hires_texture\The Legend of Zelda

You need Mudlord's Rice Video plugin or Glide64 Napalm plugin to load them in case you didn't know. In Glide64 Napalm, change from "do not use" to "rice format" in the "texture enhancement" tab, and in Rice, check "load hi-res textures if available" also in "texture enhancement" tab.

I finally had some time to play for a while. The pack is so damn awesome !!

Is it normal that particle effects are still really really pixelated? like water splashes when walking through water or the effects when hitting a monster or the shining light when opening a treasure chest? those look pretty bad. Is there maybe a setting that can change that?

I'm using Glide 64 Napalm 1.2.2 on 1964 v1.1 emulator btw.

Rice 6.1.4. doesn't seem to work for me ... it works perfectly well in window mode but as soon as i go fullscreen the whole image has a red tint all over it and like lines around the sides.. anyone know what that's about? looks sort of interesting though ... gives the game an appearance like in "The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past" when using the mirror when everything looks dead and brown xD

Hello guys, I'm new around here but I couldn't help signing up just to thank Djipi for this wonderful work... OOT is probably the game I played most in my life. Amazing Job!

Since I'm here, I'd like to ask someone if this image is looking how it was supposed to:

http://i27.tinypic.com/6st02c.jpg

I downloaded the pack from the link in the first page of this topic and then the one in Emarian's signature, but both of then looks this way, besides, I've tried using Rice Video 6.1.1beta10 and mudlord's rice 6.1.4 under 1964, muen 64 and Project 64 1.6 and 1.7.0.49 and, in all cases, i had this error. if I use the normal version some textures, like the torches in the castle bridge, look static. If I use de DX9 version the fonts look messed up.

Could anyone help me? I tried with Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time (E) (V1.0) [!] and Legend_of_Zelda,_The_-_Ocarina_of_Time_(E)_(M3)_(V1.0)_[!], and enabled Full TMEM Emulation...

thanks ;)

What a Great piece of work.
I Love OOT, and I love getting new opportunities to play it.
though, i have noticed some glitches with it, so as the hires child link face not loading properly, and only showing when actions are made. (slashing, learning new song) im going to re install the pack, hopefully that will fix it.

By the way,

is there a full fledged TLOZ: MM HI REZ pack?

Also, is there a proper setting for project64's Frame rate?

when i play OOT it slows a bit, and The sound "pops" a lot.
any help would be most appreciated.

thanks

It works excellent with Project64 1.7 and Rice Video 6.1.1.

But I've another problem anyways. Can't get it to work with Master Quest.
Do I just have to rename the folder in which the textures are or is it more complex?

This is a common problem with all texture packs. The thumb of rule is not to have duplicate textures within the same pack. Otherwise we encounter problems like this. You can fix it your self by removing the duplicate texture.

Anyway, the GlideHQ Hires Texture Checker should help. It checks the integrity of texture packs (including redundancy) so you will know which textures are problematic right away.

Grab it at http://glide64.emuxhaven.net/

that tool spits out like 1500 lines of errors in the pack T_T

there are tons and tons of duplicates. Many of them are names of items and things that are in Djipi's folders and then also in Emarian's Work folder

anyways there is one more problem i have. I use emulator 1964 and Rice 6.1.4 in DirectX mode. Everything works perfectly in Window mode but as soon as i go fullscreen the whole image gets a red tint all over. Anyone know what to do about that?

Alright, since you guys say it spits all these errors, I'll be glad to remove all the duplicates from the pack and use pngcrush on all the textures and put them all into .zip, .7z, .rar, .tar.lzma, .tar.gz, and .tar.bz2 archives and I'll upload them all to my site, iFile.it, MediaFire, Rapidshare, and MegaUpload. :D

Edit: Also there are plenty of thumbs.db files in there. You gotta love how Windows does that...

Alright

Now do you mind if I translate the folders? Since Djipi said this is the *final* Cel Mod and assuming he is actually right this time and Djipi's work here is done, I think it would benefit the (Emutalk) community if I uploaded the archive with the folders in English when I'm done. I've also reordered some of the things in 18-Menu-HUD-Subscreen and it's easier to look through that folder now.

Edit: I'm done with the renaming and small reordering but ghqchk crashes, and I've done exactly what it says. Even if I run cmd as an admin and type in ghqchk.exe "THE LEGEND OF ZELDA", and the textures are in ./hires_texture/THE LEGEND OF ZELDA/, it crashes shortly and though ghqchk.txt was made, it only lists 5 errors and 1 warningin the file—the same as with Djipi's version on the first page (which I tried before you told me to stop and use your update of it instead). So I guess that's where it crashed...

I submitted an error report, KoolSmoky, in case you actually check yours. Debugging with Visual Studio tells me:

You most likely have a texture that is corrupt or doesn't strictly follow the png specifications. If you have altered the png's in anyway, then I suggest you revert the one that causes the problem. If you encounter any other problems, I'd appreciate it if you'd submit reports to the Glide64 official website or shoot me an email.

Wow Djipi I just got to the water temple and it is sooo beautiful !!

Definitely my favourite part so far :flowers:

One issue i've been having is getting more annoying in water temple because i have to change boots all the time. I use 1964 1.1 and Rice 6.1.4

Everytime i press start (go to the menu) it takes like 10 seconds till it opens and strangely as background it shows the last room that had a background. Anybody know a fix for that? Kind of frustrating to always have to wait for 10 seconds for the menu to show up :x

@Kupfel

the long delay can be fixed by a "cheat"(unfortunately i dont know it anymore) or by a hack that is already implemented in project64.
As for the image in the Pause menu:
Go to your videoplugin settings(rice 6.1.4) and then to current game options (you have to do this while the rom is running),there set
N64 Frame Buffer Emulation to : Basic Write&Back, and
Render to Texture Emulation to: Write Back & Reload
This will also fix the crappy link texture in inventory. These settings are not the best ones, but the only ones that will work on rice 6.1.4 without crashing. It could happen that you sometimes have the wrong image when pausing, but its better than before!

Hi there. First thing I want to say is that this MOD is awesome.

Anyhow, I have a problem which I can't seem to solve no matter what. Every texture, as far as I know loads perfectly, but the "cloudy sky" and the ganon area sky does not load at all. Instead the normal texture is loaded and looks very weird.
I tested it with Glide Napalm, Aristoteles/Rice plugins using PJ64 1.7.

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb40/mc_abel/SKY.jpg

Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

As a side note, an almost invisible thing (only noticeable when there are clouds), at the selection screen, one of the textures has a few opaque pixels where they should be transparent. I don't mind fixing this one myself; I'd just need the file name for the texture.

Glide64 doesn't have any lag with the start menu; in fact it's emulated perfectly if you check hardware framebuffer emulation.

The game itself does wait one second before showing the start menu, however; it's programmed like that. It's like that on the real n64 as well. It doesn't bother me and I prefer having it.

Just thought I'd mention that before anyone new reads that and gets confused. :P You can keep using it if you want.

Kupfel
August 10th, 2009, 06:35
yeah well, waiting a second is fine - it's more like 7 seconds though. The bug is NOT rice specific. It will occur with any video plugin if you use the 1964 emulator. If you use a newer version of the Project 64 emulator then that very cheat is already enabled by default through your rom db. In 1964 you just have to enable the cheat yourself.

As for Glide vs. Rice ... there's something that bothers me about both of them. Rice can't keep the aspect ratio when going full screen and Glide doesn't have antialiasing. It really looks a lot better with antialiasing so i rather use rice in window mode and enjoy the better picture quality.

What I'm doing now is looking through every single texture in the pack and fixing up every single one that I can. I've noticed that lots of textures obviously had the eraser tool used too much, causing ugly lines around things and uneven glowing/shadowing. Plus, some of the textures are kind of blurry, and others have too much aliasing in certain areas of them.

When I'm done, I'll then go through all the textures *again* and delete the duplicates and rename the _rgb.png ones that lack a _a.png into _all.png.

The problem is that this will break >50% of the textures' compatibility with old versions of Rice unless I convert them from 24-bit to 32-bit (which will waste space because that alpha channel is not used in those images). At least I *think* it will. Can somebody take a _rgb.png from Djipi's pack that lacks a _a.png and see if it works out of the box with Mudlord's+Aristotle's Rice Video, and remove the _rgb.png and see if it still works? :) That would be great. Why don't you try it with the pot texture? (located in the Kokiri Forest folder)

Rice said himself that a 32-bit texture from the game MUST also be retextured into a 32-bit PNG. However, that was a long time ago. Glide64 1.22 Napalm lets you use a 24-bit _all.png and it will default the entire image's opacity to 100%. And I have no clue what Mudlord's+Aristotle's Rice Video does.

Really.... I think Djipi has made it clear to everybody that he doesn't want anybody messing around with his work. If you're so good, make your own pack. It's amazing to me that you have the balls to assume you can improve this pack. Like I said, go ahead and start your own pack. There are a lot of good games that can be done. Leave this alone. Cleaning the edges and removing the ugly halos left by Djipi caused by the eraser tool and softening the jagged edges in many of the textures will give a nicer end result and will compress better.

Unless this is forbidden cooperation and I'll just not do it.

I don't see the problem here.

The issue that Djipi had with people improving his pack is because he was afraid that someone would make some small changes and then do something like make a thread with a title of:

"Someone + Djipi's Cell Mod"

Djipi didn't want anyone stealing credit after five years of work. If X-Fi just makes the changes and uploads the revised pack, I don't see what's wrong. If he went and acted as though he had an equal share on the other hand...

I'm sure Djipi will be fine as long as X-Fi just offers the revised pack and leaves all credit to Djipi.

Does Rice/Glide64 support greyscale (8-bit) PNGs? If so, how would I name it? _ciByRGBA? What about alpha transparent greyscale (8-bit) PNGs? Yes, such can exist.

I think for alpha transparent ones, I need to name them as _all.png, and for ones that don't use the alpha channel, I'll name them as _ciByRGBA.png.

Edit: Also, in the Kokiri Forest, there are two different textures for the bushes that you can run through and collect rupees in. The _all.png one is darker than the _rgb.png one. So which do I choose?

Textures cleanup described by X-Fi6 sounds reasonable, but I would not touch it without the author permission.
From the other side, duplicates removal is not only good thing from anyone point of view – it is necessary step, required for correct work of the pack. I guess, Djipi had not time to clean his work himself, but why he would not allow for somebody else to do it?

Djipi - thanks a lot for your work! I checked it briefly - all environment textures just gorgeous!

Haven't gotten the final pack downloaded yet, but everything up to this point has been amazing, and I doubt that I'll be disappointed with the rest. You have supreme dedication to finish this after such a long time.

On a sidenote, just to check: this pack doesn't contain any prerendered textures, correct? If not, are there any addon packs that contain them? Thanks.

Rice has got a lot of little, annoying quirks. For example, the image of Link in the menu that shows what he has equipped is borked, and doesn't seem to want to unbork regardless of what settings are used. Glide just seems to be more stable. I agree, though, that lack of AA is an issue, so I've taken to forcing it on with my video card. I've got a GeForce 9800M GS, and it's as simple as opening up the control panel and telling it to override application AA settings. I would recommend adjusting it on a per-application basis, as opposed to tweaking global settings. I'd imagine it would be trivial for any semi-modern card, and it works wonders.

Completely agree with everything about rice. Not only that, but literally every version of rice since 6.12 (or whatever version started having the option to load high res textures) has been completely unstable. The latest versions that people are making that seem to be off-shoots of rice literally crash right away or after a few minutes (or just display texture corruption). I can say that after messing with various plugins for loading high res textures that the new glide is the best. The only problem is, as others have mentioned, there's no option for AA. Forcing it seems to work but introduces a whole lot of other problems in an of itself (the major one being lines that show up where texture connect).

That background is not part of the pack, none of the backgrounds are in Djipi's pack. It was made by mdtauk I think (maybe?) or mollymutt. If they re-did all of them to match the pack it would elevate it to a new level.

Djipi decided against remaking all the backgrounds and as far as i know he doesn't plan to.

I know that Djipi decided not to do the backgrounds, and I remember someone posting the background previously, but I didn't know that someone had actually tried to include it in the pack.

IMO, I'd love to add this to mine.

In this part of the photo below in my not so in Cell-Shading, which version of Mod is that?

This is Djipi's early work. He gave it to me to test backgrounds load in Glide64. I currently use it with his Final Mod. I don't have Djipi's permission to make it public.

Gonetz you should try and get Djipi allow you to release them.
Then I'll be able to see if they work/load properly with Rice Video :)

Hmm, you're right. mdtauk's work is so in style with Djipi's pack, easy to be mistaken. So, Djipi is really never tried to make the backgrounds. Well, in this case this background really can be released as an addon to the pack. I'll try to do it this week.

Great for Glide64 but not need for 1964Video as it can (and has to) load the whole background directly (given that the file is named properly).

Alright guys I'm still here. Forgot all about Djipi's Cel Mod, and well, read back here (http://emutalk.net/showthread.php?t=49340&page=9#post424534).

In case somebody resumes work on this plugin, I'd like to finish my changes and upload and see how everyone thinks of it before any more progress is made. So obviously I have to work quickly here with school and IRL etc. Gonna have to squeeze in time here.

I understand why a *lot* of you would oppose me messing with his mod, especially after reading Djipi's first post in this thread. But if I'm doing it for myself and Emarian and about five or six guys on my MSN contacts list, I might as well post it, and Djipi approved once earlier in this thread if he sees nothing wrong with it. Maybe I'll send it to him first before I post it in this thread.

From there, just upload textures that you change and make sure they are in the default folder structure so that people can easily replace Djipi's.

Djipi said that he didn't want anyone redistributing his work, but he gave the OK to anyone who wanted to release "add-on" packs to supplement his own.

Under the Emulation settings tab for Aspect Ratio, set it to Force 16:9.Does that actually force a 16:9 aspect ratio or just it just stretch stuff to 16:9? As far as I can tell, it just forces the image to stretch to the ratio, and it doesn't actually render the game in 16:9 like Jabo's plugin does.

I tried it once before when I wasn't paying attention (:P) and I thought it worked like Jabo's 1.7.

So at the moment, it's just Jabo's (for most games, at least... maybe it does in fact work for something) but Gonetz and the mupen64plus team are probably working this.

Strange bug. Looks like some hires textures disappear from the texture cache. No idea, what can cause this. You may try to manually set video memory size in OpenGL settings, may be it will help. Set the lower value then actually installed in your card, e.g. 320 if you have 512mb card.

not to detract the spotlight from Djipi or to say that he didn't do an absolutely amazing job of retexturing OoT, i did notice some small errors. Young Link's eyes will always show in low res (when they're looking forward) unless you change the eye texture's size from 1024*512 to 256*128. also, the inside of the Hyrulean shield will show in low res until you change the size of it's texture from 128*256 to 64*128. (and this part is just personal preference, i edited Young Link's smiling mouth to be a little less smiley and more plane as it was in the original.)

ALWAYS REMEMBER Djipi's warning on the first page: do NOT republish this texture pack with the updated sizes or any other changes that you make without his consent!

You probably have it in 16-bit.

I assume you already have Rice? So...

1. Extract archive file.

2. Browse to C:\Program Files\Project 64 1.6\Plugin\Hires_Texture\
( if you haven't added that folder, just make one )

3. Paste the folder with the textures in Hires_Texture, rename it to "THE LEGEND OF ZELDA"

4. Run Project 64, click on:
Settings -> Configure graphics plugin -> Texture Enhancement -> (checkbox)Load high-res textures if available.

That should do it ^_^

Which plugin are you using? These sorts of issues unfortunately are incredibly common, and usually it just needs a lot of tweaking to get it to run properly. You should start by making sure you're using the latest release of Glide, turn all settings off except rice texturing format, and see what happens.

I have some issues.. I see that when you are in places such as Hyrule Market and Link's house, the background is tiled.. and you cannot tell where the hell you are going because it is a constant tile of one section.

Also, when you pause the game, it shows in the background instead of your game play, the last area you were in (as listed above) the areas with a full backdrop (the area after you go through Hyrules bridge)

However the rest looks great good job m8
