Z64 <-> V64 conversion

I've seen it on here somewhere but can't quite find it.

I know that V64 ROMs were ripped from a Doctor V64 device or V64Jr, and that Z64 ROMs were ripped from a Z64 device that uses Zip disks as its transfer medium.

I know that there is some endian changing between the two, but that's about it for as far as I know.

Using a hex editor and/or any other tools, how would one go about converting the two between each other? Don't emulators have to convert the Z64s to an appropriate format before being able to load it? Is there even 1 second being saved by converting that to V64? Or are V64s pretty much wasting as much as 16mb or greater of disk space?

As I recall, applying patches may require a particular format (I think), but for emulation purposes there's no reason to worry about one format over another.

I did find a nice little byteswapper program years ago, if you want/need it. I did need to byte swap some roms long ago, though I can't for the life of me remember why, lol...
