Xp updates prob

damn, most of the windows updates wont install properly, no idea why, all specs below, except i'm not using SP1 due to the slow speed.

I got this error when upgrading direct x, i also get it with a windowsupdate security fix

any ideas?

Its a combonation of both disabling the cryptographic service, as well as setting windows to always refuse to install non whql certified drivers. (dunno why they don't mention the whql setting in that kb article)

no idea, i guess its for xp identification, so best to not disable it, i think i disabled it as advice to help security in win xp

Because my PC isn't on the internet.

What is Cryptograpchic Service?

Mainly, it confirms signatures of Windows files. You may always get a dialog box complaining about uncertified drivers if this is disabled. This service is required for Windows Update to function in manual and automatic mode and this service is required to install Service Pack 1 unified updates and DirectX 9.0. Windows Media Player and future .NET applications may also require this service for some “features” to function. This service uses about 1.9 MB of memory.

Simple solution: Right Click on my computer. Properties uncheck the option drivers MUST have a WHQL certification
