I'm ugrading my graphics card on my system and am considering getting a triplex xabre pro 400. The card has great performance on most commercial d3d and opengl games better than any geforce mx card, what i want to know is if anyone here uses this card and how it performs with pj64 or any other emulators. any help would be great.

thanks in advance :)

I would stick with ATI or Nvidia since they have much better driver support and compatability with everything. Xabre 400 is somewhat faster than Geforce 4 mx460 but it's image quality is also worse from what reviews I've seen. Xabre 600 looks promising though..What price range are you looking at?

i'm looking at about $100 from what i've read the driver support has been good so far anyway and the image quality is on par with geforce4ti cards but this is all from reviews i was hoping to here from someone whos used the card with pj64

The reviews mislead you, cutie... ignore the Xabres under all circumstances.

The trouble is, in order to be fast enough, they do a bilinear hack which skips alternate texels, resulting in horribly broken texture mapping. And bump maps are completely destroyed.

Fixing that, the speed drops to MX440 levels, even lower most of the time. And the bump maps still look trashed, probably due to severely reduced LOD...

Whoever said the image quality is as good as GF4Ti is WRONG. It has the same theoretical capabilities (Pixel and Vertex Shaders and all), but in practice the output is horrendous.

If you need a budget video card that's better than a GeForce4 MX with better features and so on, get a Radeon 9000 Pro (or just wait for the faster 9100 to be released). They're cheap and kick the crap out of GF4MX at every turn (except one game, I don't even remember which at this point though).
