Worms Armageddon: worm direction

Windows XP is very stable..... but sometimes i have issues due to directx and/or nvidia drivers problems.... when a game crash, for example yesterday i'm playing SSB in 1964 + Rice plugin (fullscreen).... and the emulator crashed...... my system continues to respond my key and mouse commands, but the display goes black..... i made a logoff and my screen goes back......
it's annoying, but the system not crashed.......

BUT LINUX is better........... always....... i can only send a kill command and all done! :) i have my system at same state from before the problem......

im not saying it always happens, im just saying it does sometimes where unix/linux/Xwindows does a great job of isolating running programs from eachother. I think only nighty0 gets what im trying to say, Run a gui version of linux or an os that uses a unix kernel and you have a much more stable system, still I'm not saying windows is bad, im just hoping that they can grasp that idea and run with it. I would love to have a Windows OS that ran as smooth as possible and that would help. It would be great to only run one system and not have to use my apple for photoshop and adobe elements and final cut pro (im a video major dont even try to tell me that premier is a better program or even equal to final cut) and then my pc for gaming. And windows stepping to an open source kernel like Unix would give users even more controll over their own systems. That is something I would figure you all would root for. But if people arent getting what im saying ill just shut up. :linux:

i also would prefer it if my computer didnt constantly check back with Big Brother Bill. But that is just cuz im paranoid.

If only you could say load windows in performance mode where all the shit backgrounds tasks it does are turned off (Except of course essential ones) and normal mode which did all the crap it does now. That would be nice. I've played with gentoo quite a bit and I can say I like a lot about linux but nothing beats windows simple plug & play and driver support.

As for worms armageddon I always though th PSx & DC version were the best and the N64 was the worst (Excluding GBA version) so I don;t really get why people want to play it. The PSX version also runs perfectly with no slow down or issues on either pcsx or epsxe on a 500mhz P3 with no name 3d card.

Not the solution you were looking for I know but still worth checking out (It cost me £5 for worms armageddon for the psx off ebay about 4 weeks ago) if you're a die hard worms fan and don't like the feel of the pc version.

have you seen the plug and play abilities of an apple, it is just as easy and compatible without treating you like an idiot when you put in your digital camera. but you are right about windows beating linux in the plug and play area, im not saying one is better than the other, im just saying that if bill gates and steve jobs got over this horribe 1980 high school fued of theirs and started working together with a common goal (the best possible pc for users) they would double their money and the whole computing world would be better (and compatible 100%)

Um...............the dreamcast version sucks..........I own it. You have to share a controller to play and a lot of things are missing. I'll admit that the N64 worms has many problems, but it's MULTIPLAYER CANNOT be beat by any other system. I haven't played Worms World Party, but the DC version of that is prolly better than the n64 one. I have the PC, DC, and GBA versions of worms, and the n64 one is by far the best! Does the PSX version let you use different controllers? That was the ONE thing that got on my nerves on every version of worms but the n64 one. Just play Worms on an n64 with four people on a 60" tv with surround sound and compare that with ALL the other games................then you'll see what I mean!

More about windowsxp.....
The default installation have a lot of unneeded things......
For example, i disabled wireless support, because i don't have wireless devices, and disabling this = -10MB memory usage...... and have many other things you can disable or put to manual activation.......

to only play games you can disable more things... i close all AVG services, BlackIce firewall services and explorer.exe :p..... this = -20~45MB memory usage
you loss you taskbar and desktop, but you have the ctrl+alt+del to control your system and you can securely reenable your explorer.exe, and take the system to their normal state after playing games......

sounds like a lot of work just to free up 20 to 45Mb of memory usage. just one question for everyone. Is windows XP perfect? no it could still use a little work. I did nothing but propose a way to put XP on the way twoards perfection. or does big brother bill have you all as a part of his :borg: :baaa:

im in for complete controll and a perfect os! :linux: + windows = one beautiful a** baby!
