My brother has a room down the basement I am upstairs. Will the wavebird work like this= through the floor? Can someone post/PM me good sites on how wireless technology works?

No, it won't.
It works like light does.
That's all infra red is, light.

yah and even if it would work through the floor, it definately wouldnt have that kind of range. My wireless keyboard and mouse barely transmit half way across my own room.

Wireless is great if you dont want to be tied down by the cords but be warned, they tend to eat batteries faster than a portable CD-Player. Especially the computer mice that are wireless because they are constantly passively scanning for movement, but other devices arent much better.

I get the distinct impression that neither of you owns a GameCube, nor do you know any GameCube owners. :flowers:

Yes, the WaveBird will work through walls, through floors, etc. At IGN they found it still worked some 90 feet away from the receiver.

It's RF, not IR. >_>

OK, well I'll admit, I was assesing the question based on wireless technology in general, I dont own a gamecube, (nor do I want one) but most wireless technology that high quality.

Oh, and Wavebirds generally last a good 100+ hours on a pair of AA batteries.

I own a Gamecube, but I don't have a Wavebird because I have no reason to use one.
It's alright playing games from the garden, but how the fuck are you doing to see what you're doing? ;)

Having a wavebird isn't for 'bragging rights' - MY WAVEBIRD REACHES FARTHER THAN YOURS DOES, HA!!!!!! - it's more for the untethered-ness and tangle-free wireless functionality. Also lets you move around a bit while playing, if your butt starts to hurt from sitting in one place for 5 hours...

And of course, it lets me run my GCN's Component cables behind my 61" HDTV, leave the GC comfortably right next to the TV, and lie on the couch while playing various awesome games. :flowers:

Meh, I have so many wires, one less wouldn't make a difference, and I don't play my GC for 5 hours on end. ;)
Well, I suppose I played THUG for that long the other day, it's sorta knackered my fingers and I can't play anything it the minute. :(

Oh, and ph34r me 21" 20 year old TV. ;)
