Windows XP SP1 Installation Help

Whenever I try to download SP1 for XP, I get and error message that my computer has an invalad product key. Just to let everyone know, I didn't steal my computer, my friend works with a computer company and he got it for me from there. If anyone could please help me on this, it would be much appreciated. Thanx in advanced.

You need a valid key to install SP1. If you wish to do so, and you are convinced you have a legitimate copy I can only tell you to contact your friend and ask him about the issue. If not contact Microsoft and explain it to them.

I believe SP1 came with a certain blacklist of well known warezed or widely distributed keys.

I'll close this thread now, simply because it will inevitably be swamped with people suggesting you search for a key changing program. That is something we obviously wouldn't advocate here.
