XP is wkd. looks good, and is damn stable, i havnt had one crash since i got it (before it was released in october ;) )whereas with win98....

XP has some problems. Wait for Service Pack 1 or 2 before you get it. Chances are, you may never have any problems. But when you do, they is gonna be BAD.

I say get Windows 2000, or Linux with WineX.

i think they just plan to put any "sp1" into XPSE

As for it, XP is generally a thousand times more stable than previous OS (well, especially 98). However, it is buggy and seems to mess stuff up, which I really do blame MS for.

I'll try out these tips. Thanks.

either way, xp is definetly the way to go

the only downside and reason to use 98/98se would be to play older games or apps that dont run with 2k/xp (e.g. corn)

I run win 2000 without any problems. Some of my friends run xp and I have only heard bad things about it. I like win 2000 :inlove:

linux owns... just doesn't own cool edit 2.0, yet so , i'm still on win 98se... tried xp, and it was like trying to ride a dog instead of a horse.... SLOW.

Anyone want to tell me why (in a core sense) XP is superior to 2K? If I ever get really annoyed with 98SE's features, I'll want to dual boot but with 2K, since it lacks all of XP's cutesy features and is a known solid OS.

(And if you wonder why I say dualboot and not completely delete 98SE, check my avatar ;)

Well, I've never tried W2k (on my PC, at least), but I can say that most of old games for DOS DON'T WORK on XP, so, if I want to play 'Another World', I MUST boot on dos with a win9x rescue disk (OR use WinUAE ;) ).

Well, guess I'll soon buy a Bigger HD, so I can keep XP, 98, and Linux :cool:

Heh, I am running WinXP and can say it has better application compatibility than win2k. That's what I meant ;)
