Will the Project64 Project EVER be continued?

I'm thinking, it is only the most amazing N64 emulator available and it hasn't been updated in a looong time.

Any chance that the project will ever be continued?

if you read the rules it say dont ask or you'll be kick out like i was out of zsnes, remember me?>:)

DO NOT
1.Ask for ROMs (commercial games), tell people where to get ROMs, or ask people to contact you outside the forum. This includes discussion relating to back-up units.
2.Make a feature request, ask when the next version is coming out, or ask for source code.
3.Ask how to play a game (visit gamefaqs.com instead).
4.Discuss hardware, games or other emulators except where specificaly related to Project64.
5.Ask why it's slow or looks/sounds bad if you're below minimum spec (see User Manual).
6.Insult people without reason, advertise anything, or spam.
7.Post the same thing to more than one forum (someone WILL notice).
8.This thread is the only place I want to see BLOCK CAPITALS!
9.Abuse attachments. Only post relevant files.

PJ64 + default plugins are discontinued.

However, the RDB, cheats, RDX and other assorted files aren't, so when new games appear they are added, like the Master Quest was with the service pack and recently the [!] version was added (although it conflicted with OoT). I'm not sure who's doing the new GoodN64 2.02a RDB though.

well, that depends on whether there will be open-source releases...they did things like this with project64k to add netplay and a couple other features, and other modifications have been made to emulators like ultrahle and others....As for an official kind of thing, the latest release does say FINAL...and you can probably count on that with the exception of service packs...

ALSO, in my opinion telling someone they're breaking the rules (with the exception of our all-powerful moderators of course) and POSTING THE SAME MATERIAL IN A DIFFERENT POST is almost as annoying as someone asking for ROMs

Since PJ64 1.4 is open source, it spawned PJ64k which hotquik developed, and also Azimer modified it to demonstrate his extended spec audio plugin.

PJ64 1.5 is closed source, and will stay that way. Jabo's plugins are also closed source.

from the looks of it I wouldnt expect anything else to come from the pj64/plugin sector anytime in the future

U never know what the futur will offer.
It would b great if tomorrow jabo and the project 64 team would release a new version of PJ64 and jabos plugins...
Probably they were bored and worked on it the whole time.
U never know, but if they would say "we're working on" thousand of ppl would ask: when it will b released and what 4 features r inside, but if they decide that they don't want to release it 2 the public, because it isn't such a progress they wanted 2 do, then the crying is big.
That's the reason why it isn't allowed to ask wheather a new version will b released.

Well, there MIGHT be a new release of jabo's plugins sometime in the future. As gent's interview stated (by jabo himself), he has been "secretly" further developing his plugins. But due to little time, he hasn't done enough to release it yet.

We'll see if it ever gets released ;)
As for the emulator...nah, I don't think it will be continued.

the zilmar interview also stated by zilmar himself that he had worked on a pj project and also rewrote it from scratch but like jabo just hasnt got much time so i also wouldnt rule out a zilmar driven release at some point either :)

I would because it seems like his life is too busy to ever get any time and as the rule goes, if a project is unattended for a certain time, it is forgotten :p

It would be brilliant if there was a new graphics plugin release, or an emulator release to do with PJ64. I shan't hold my breath though, as nothing seems to be concrete on the matter.

Well, he didn't ask when the next version is coming out. He asked if a new version is coming out. :)

Right, I must've missed that. But still, it is a NEw emulator... of sorts, since it's mostly rewritten. Perhaps it will become Zilmar64 1.0 ;) :p

Exactly. The point of my post was that they made an incredibly awesomely cool emulator but stopped working on it and won't share the source! I mean, that just totally sucks! :( PJ64 is my one of my favorite emulators, just right below ZSNES as being the best emulator ever, IMO.

*sigh*

Yo, how's it goin' Clements. :)

EDIT: ahem, and IceFox.

EDIT2: Sorry, No Kewl Namz, I don't remember you from zsnes.com (i'm not very into forums).

Lol, Zilmar64 that would be a great name for an emulator. Really I think that sometime in the future it will be continued when one of the authors get more time.

The Great One
Zilmar 64 would be an interesting name for a N64 emulation, as Zilmar did the specs for the pluigns. However I would think that it will probably not happen.

As for Project 64 being continued. Clements is still updating the emulator with new service packs, but they dont really do anything big to the emulator. As for Jabos plugins. I think Jabo needs to be twisted in a fashion where someone needs to be better than his plugins, in a very good way, or else he will probably not update his plugins.

The source was released.

Btw, there are a couple of plugins out there now that surpasses jabo's. Let's see... it must be rice's plugin and glide64 mostly. Direct64 would probably be a hit, but it's in early stages as of yet. Uhhhh... and other plugins as well... maybe. I think...
