Will a new N64 emulator come into being?

It seemed there have been no new versions of any N64 emulation for quite a long time.

PJ 1.4 is the best one and the final one. However, there are still many roms it fails to run properly.

Will a new N64 emulator come into being?

Is there any news on this matter?

We are waiting for the emergence of a wizard eagerly.

Hmm I would like to be a wizard :)

I wouldn't be surprised if a few new emus do surface. Actually I am pretty sure that this will happen.

actually, just from memory, VTT has been working on an emulator (i've never talked to him, but i've read his posts and was at the future website) and a few weeks ago, i think Grant (not sure if thats the right name) mentioned he's working on an emulator and he got a beta tester or two.
as for existing emulators, new versions will come. nemu .8, new 1964 (but not for a while probably since we got a release recently), apollo is progressing (azi's takin some time off now, but he'll do more audio and his opengl plugin), tr64 is also(slowly) i think, and daedalus will be worked on.
wow, that was longer than expected, hope it helps some one

Hmm i don't think VTT's emu is for real. He said he would release a beta to beta testers (me) around christmas, and i have not heard of him since.

If that VTT guy's emu is real I'll eat my shorts, and post a picture of myself eating said shots on said forum.

Hmmm...in most cases the old veteran emus stay the best ones as long as they are continued...
I think it won´t take long the emu scene will give the next gen consoles a try (X-Box, PS2, NGC)
And I fear the N64-emu-scene might slowly die then... :(
I don´t hope so of course...

Xbox for PC? What would be the point? Emus on Xbox? maybe but you'll get better ones on PC anyway.
PS2? For a start, I wish them good luck with the 128 bit RISC (MIPS IV-subset, 64 bits via 2-way Superscalar) CPU Core.
NGC? Ho ho .. no, no, no.

However, the NES and SuperNes are dead for ages and those "scenes" are still quite alive.
Same applies for all of these Motorola 680X0 platforms based emus.

I thought Daedalus was looking the most promising up until a few or more months ago, he was releasing new versions every week or so for a good period of time. You could see it progress very well, and I think it was the second emulator to run Majora's Mask. Daedalus, where are you?!!!

I'm very sure that we will see new n64 emulators :) No doubt about it actually ;) but when is another question :alien:

btw, Daedalus is currently having a break being developed because its author is really busy developing other stuff for his real-life job.

I agree with Dominator on this, the N64 emu "scene" has some of the best support & popularity ever, and the more advanced systems are going to be seriously seriously hard to emulate... people wanting to play PS2 games on their PCs, by the time it's even slightly done you'll have moved onto the PS3 or 4 i reckon.

Meh...
i bet ya new n64 emu's are in the making right now and some people are doing it right now by having all the roms of n64 and testing all of them and making sure that is is perfect for opengl video card users right now. well hopefully :p kinda like what uhle did when it first came out it could play some n64 games no problem and it used glide. well im hoping someone is doing that and it comes out by....

2003 ;)

playstation 2 emu hmmmmmm

playstaion 2 emus

they will come dude but not for 2 maybe 3 years if someone could take a few years like developing a game for a emu then it would save all these addons here in there but i think there will be ps2 emus around in 2 years time but they want be very sharp.

ps most wanted ps2 emulation if roms

1.metal gear solid 2
2.legends of wrestling
3.devil may cry
4.pro evolution soccer
5.smackdown just bring it
6.blade 2
7.virtua tennis 2
8.jax and daxter
9.driver 3
10.max payne

ps. i dont mean roms obviously because you will need a dvd drive but that is one thing good for ps2 emulation unlike dreamcast

develop a ps2 emulator plz anyone who knows emulation but keep it behind closed doors unless you want the sony crimesquad at your door lol

Hello. Going back to the Xbox, PS2 emu subject, what kind of hardware would it take to run an emulator for them? I mean, I have a dual Athlon 1700+ system with 512MB Crucial DDR memory, and Goldeneye still bogs it down. You would probably need a 4ghz or more CPU to run an Xbox emulator. Why does it take so much PC horse power to run an emulator? I am ignorant about the inner workings of them, so someone enlighten me.

most likely, to play xbox games, ull need a series of hacks or something, rather than an emulator of the console, as its got some sorta MS OS built into it (I assume) and the games are developed pretty much like a pc.

forget ur ps2 emu, possible for about 4-5years as its taken almost longer than that to get a working saturn emulator, and of wat im aware of, theres only 1 which has a small library of working games.

ps2 is much harder to develop for than a psONE as the hardware is WAY more complicated. its gonna take a long to emulate something like that.
