I thoughht this was about N64?? and I say project 64 is the best as 1964 was to freaking fiddley!! I am looking forward to the new release but I would prefer a new service pack or upday from pj64

well, as a tester, I guess I'm prejudiced, but for me, the new plugins in 1964 along with some core changes have made the sound perfectly smooth, no popping or craclking noises, etc. the new video plugin is beautiful, though not perfect, but it's REALLY nice. I would say that it being more recent means that some things will be better emulated in 1964 than project 64, but that's simply due to continued gaining of understanding of the things that cause the 64 to be difficult to emulate. If the PJ authors got together again, knowing what the dev community knows now, I think they could put together something amazing. i think it would be 1/2 a year from now or a year from now, but it would still amaze everyone.

That's only natural, man. Outside of the handful of people who are intimate with the internals of any system, once the emulators for that system reach a certain level, people just care about the games.

Me? Yeah, I'm like that. No, I don't just want free games. I want to have a perfect emulator. Hook my PC up to an HDTV, and have the only difference be the vastly improved graphics.

IMO PJ64 is the greatest emulator, but with the new 1964 coming out I might just stick with using 1964.

I've always liked 1964 more than PJ64 for the speed, and currently it's the only emu that I can use Orkin's plugin with. That in mind, I think I'll like 0.9.9 even more. Wether or not 0.9.9 will be "better" is up for grabs IMO. I'm sure most people will continue to use both 1964 and PJ64, based on which runs a particular game better.

Well, for certain I can say that 1964 will be more user-friendly than PJ64 due to the *excellent* interchangable RSP option. I agree that this is not a contest- for example, the authors of both Snes9x and ZSnes share information all the time, for the benefit of both, and I'm sure that's how it is with N64 emulation as well.

From what I've seen so far in the screenshot thread, I have been extremely impressed with the hard work both Schibo and Rice have put in to accurately emulate the N64. Good work guys!
