Hmmm, first seeing this question, I was about to say "omg wtf ur sayin?", but, I'm in the situation like yours. I'm about to get a DC or a PS2. Also a GC, since I want to play zelda WW (and possible the twilight princess).
Hmm, but my opinion goes to PS2. It has a great number of games, and good games such Kingdom Hearts, Castlevania Curse of Darkness, Resident Evil... I personally don't like Xbox. And GC, for me, is just for a few games. You know that Dreamcast is dead, no more games for it, but I would like to replay a lot of games I played on it when I had mine...

Or then, why don't you just save money for a next-gen console? ;)

The revolution is backwards compatible, so i reccommend going for the rev instead of the GC. Same with PS3 and xbox360. All backwards compatible. I would check first which games aren't compatible though, cause it seems some games won't be able to play on them.

Gamewise, your best bet is PS2 right now.

Get the 360.

If you are shortening Playstation 2 to play 2, why not just make it PS2, that way at least people know wtf you are talking about.

I would recommend the ps2 because of better games IMO. PC games are better than them all, and the with the DC you won't be able to find any games except online and in pawn shops. The gamecube has some good games on it such as the resident evil series, metal gear solid remake, and smash brothers. The xbox has halo series, kotor, and fable but you can get all that on pc except halo 2. It all really comes down to the type of games you like to play.

Yes, THE PS2 :) , it has double games that their competitors and the graphics are the same in xbox or in gamecube or in ps2.
Is it like I say?

^^ No, they're not. Also, I find it a bit weird how Mystic Gohan only mentioned the remakes and Smash Bros when Metroid, Zelda, and other classic Nintendo franchises are the best on the system. Agree on the Xbox thing, though - mostly also on the PC. However, you're bound to find something you like on the PS2 - the range is incredible; however, it actually costs more despite the other two systems being more powerful. Yet again, it all comes down to what sort of games you want to play. You tell us that, we'll give you your answer.

I would boil it down to this:

  • Gamecube - for the Nintendo franchises (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc.)
  • Xbox - for PC games you'd rather play at your television; with multi-console releases, the Xbox versions are generally better
  • PS2 - for everything else

My advice? Buy 'em all. That way you won't miss out on anything. ;)

I don't know about metroid, but I just completely forgot about zelda. Zelda is a pretty damn good game as well, but I prefer the remakes but that's just me.

Well, Metroid is... y'know, Samus. Also, Metroid Prime was the highest rated game of this generation for a long time on Gamerankings, winning many Game of the Year awards. In other words, it's good.
And don't forget the other franchises: F-Zero, Fire Emblem, Pokemon, Mario, Kirby, Starfox, Donkey Kong, and Animal Crossing/Forest. All good franchises. However, Mario's been milked, Pokemon isn't so good on the GC, and Kirby hasn't got a proper game on the GC.
But that's off-topic. The point is, show your face again so you can tell us what type of games you want.
