this is quite a toughie. i mean it would probably be more obvious if u were there, but from looking at websites, this has been a very well-rounded exhibition. i would probably say Nintendo, they've got a lot of in-house games showing, and hav real demonstrated some classy gamecube games (metroid Prime lalalalala).

ps2 has plenty of promising titles, 'The Getaway', the confirmation of an updated MGS2 and 'GTA', ZOE2, Shinobi

xbox has sega and lionhead (and lionhead's mini-divisions) <-- we knew they were coming, still no doubt that the new panzer dragoon is loooking spankingly good

gamecube has nintendo probably showing off more than ever, so many titles.

pc has, well, its always the loser in E3, but its not doing too bad this year. Unreal2, Doom III, Deus Ex2, blah blah yada yada

and gba, well i havent been following it really, so i dunno...

xbox, i mean, i know you guys hate all that is bill and ms, but they are indeed coming out with some killer games, with price cuts and all that, new controllers, xbox live, they are actually doing pretty good i believe. Why are you guys undermining pc? i mean, doom 3 is enough to win the competition, deus x, ut 2003, unreal 2, oh god, come on people. PS2 is actually pretty quiet, i would say

XBOX
PC
GC
PS2
GBA

the thing which pisses me off with the xbox is that they hav no REAL xbox special games, i mean sony hav 'The Getaway' and Nintendo hav their in-house stuff. but xbox has simply paid their way to get exclusive titles that would usually be available on more systems, hence, its unfair. ok, if halo doesnt come out for the PC LIKE IT WAS ORIGINALLY PLANNED FOR then i will be seriously pissed.

and as for its console-exclusive games; Doom III, Deusx2, unreal2.....all games that are on the pc, and will be sooo much better on the pc cos u dont hav the limits of a console (lets face it the geforce 3 is good now, but by the time Doom III comes out we may hav seen 2 new NVidia cards, inluding their next generation NV30, as well as the new matrox and ati cards).

ps2 has some decent games, a lot of sequels, but thats not a bad thing, devil may cry 2, silent hill 3, etc, etc. I seriously dont think the online thing will be a success, not yet anyway.

i say for GCb and GBA have a lead because they have shown a game with a HUGE fanbase and none of the other systems have done that yet.

deus ex ruled, although i kinda got bored towards the end when things get exciting (i always do that with games, play them like 85% of the way through and never finish them). still havent bothered finished MGS2 yet either. also the fact that i suck is something to consider.

two words....

or more to the point, one word and one #.

doom 3.

that's not even to mention the new sims, the new sim city, the new evercrack, ut2k3 (yay!), there is no question in MY mind that the pc is THE game platform of the future, if not the present.

i mean mario sunshine looks like mario 64, which is a great game, but plays much better in 1964 than on a console.

all i want is a good pc and a gamecube. ive got the pc bit, but to disregard the gamecube like some of you guys are doing is sheer madness. i cant wait to play smash bros, star fox, metroid, zelda, resident evil, oh the list goes on and on

there is some great stuff for the PC and the Cube out there, the PS2 stuff isn't making a great splash with me despite the pedigree some games carry (like Devil May Cry 2), and the X-Box only has Panzer Dragoon Orta

I'd pretty much the same as Blizz. It's GC and PC equal first (maybe GC slightly in front because it has Eternal Darkness, which, BTW, I've been waiting for over 3 years now), then PS2 because of Devil May Cry 2 and The Getaway, then GBA for Metroid Fusion, Golden Sun 2 and Fire Emblem (I'm not sure if this was actually shown at E3, but I want it anyway). Lastly Xbox for Panzer Dragoon and Toejam and Earl.

are the screenshots of doom 3 being posted every where actually in-game shots? if they are I'd quite frankly sell my clothes to get that game! it says something about the state of gaming when almost every game released looks absolutely gorgeous, well bar the next army man game :(

Yes. It says "ooh, this game has pretty graphics, it MUST be good then"...
When in reality, 9 times out of 10 you end up with, well, Rogue Leader.

just for starters:

if you think doom 3 is going to be "just another game" then you are completely unfamiliar with Id. Nevermind the fact that doom 3 has been in dev for over 3 years.

Secondly, yeah games are looking better, and yeah, not all of them are playing better, but any volume of games at all means that there will be more games in that 5% of games released that are going to be great.

i.e. if there are 100 games released in a year, 5 will be great, if 500 games are released in a year, 25 will be great...

so the overall volume itself adds up to lots of new great games imho...

I prey, not pray.
This years E3 looks pretty good.

I would say xbox and GC are about even money, they are mainly just taking different approaches to things. Namely, GC is trying to stick to improving the old ways of gaming, while xbox is trying to push to another front: online gaming for consoles. Both of which probably stand an equal chance, but the winner will probably be the one with more money to throw away. (yes more money means better games, you would be surprised what can be bought these days)

PS2 seems to be the middleman, dunno what to say about it except that its got better games/variety than all of them, but it's being held back by its older hardware (which didnt hold the gameboy back when it had all of the best portable games, even though GG had far better hardware). Sony seems to be all over E3 with its newwer games though.

Honestly I haven't realy appreciated video games as much as I used to (all of this 3D technology ruined the feel of most games somehow), but I think doom 3 just might change all of that. Then again ID software promised a lot for quake1, most of which we haven't seen in any games yet (which realy pisses me off, because they continue to do so). Hopefuly in Doom III ID puts their words where their mouths are, because thus far it looks great.

As far as consoles alone go, I still think that in the end, xbox will be the winner for this generation. (even though I will never buy one myself) As anybody should well know by now, microsoft isn't one to quit easily.
