What's a jumper pak?

I've got my N64 just recently and I noticed ther is a memory expansion slot and a "Jupmer Pak" in it whitout whom my console doesn't work. What is this (RAM or something) and what else can be inserted here?
I've seen some games using Expansion Pak, and I wondered is this that thingy?

it's the ram the n64 uses for game carts

the original is a 4mb cartridge, which you can replace with a 8mb cartridge.

i got my Exp pack with Donkey Kong 64

Nintendo sells them for $30 from their online store, but they don't ship worldwide...

I got mine with DK 64 also. I used to love that game. But you should just get it with DK64, or buy a used n64 off of ebay with an expansion pack or something.

Oh man, that pissed me off when after i bought majora's mask i found out i needed that damn expansion pack just to play the game. So i had to pay $50(or was it $60?) for the game and then $20 for the expansion pack.
