What sort of performence should i expect???

I have a P4 1.7Ghz, 256MB DDR ram, TNT2 32mb video card with Windows XP Pro. With the proper setting on Project64 can i expect reasonably good gameplay or would i be kidding myself?

I have tryed Killer Instinct Gold and it runs but not very good. Also would an updated version of directx help? I'm also updating my video card drivers.

On a P3 1Ghz, TNT2 32mb, and 256mb of SDR, I am able to run almost every N64 game perfectly. You might check out 1964 as it performs slightly better on slower machines - but PJ64 runs OOT fine on above system, to which yours is quite comparable and slightly faster. You shouldn't have much trouble as long as you don't try enabling AntiAliasing or tons of filters. Also note some games need faster systems - like Goldeneye.

Ok thanks. I guess i just need to tweak the settings a bit. I'm getting a new video card soon too.

One more thing. Do you know any sites to download the lastest directx programs besides the microsoft site?

Well everything is working perfectly now. I found the problem. And that was i wasn't running it full screen lol. Thanks for your help.

Well, what was the fix?
I'm having the same issue with KI:Gold.
When I fight on the stage with snow falling, the display gets really small every couple seconds. It makes it impossible to win, because it always happens during an attack, mine or Glacius'.
Also, everyone has messed up faces on the character select screen.

How did you fix your problem?

CPU 2.0 Ghz P4
1GB Ram
GeForce 420 Go 16MB laptop GPU
WinXP Home

That videocard doesn't meet the requirements for pj64, try using 1964 and u might have better luck.

Well, that's one of the only games that has an issue. I had the same problem on my desktop. It has an ATI Radeon 9600 256MB card.

Hell, my laptop plays Doom3, UT2004, and KOTOR 2 with playable framerates. I don't see why a ten year old console game would be out of reach....

The ten year old console game is out of reach because it is emulated. It wasn't designed to run on a PC.

You could try different video plugins and see which one works better for you with KI: Gold.

Yeahhhh.... actually the video card and the base program have very little to do with each other. It's all about the video plugin.

The guy's comp is a p4 1.7GHz, pj64 should run fine. He just has to find a proper video plug-in.

KI:2 for Arcade is much better (and is better emulated) than KI:Gold anyway.
