What do you want in Project64 ?

I second the automatic updates.

I actually feel automatic updates are something PJ64 doesn't need. Maybe an update button for the RDB would be good, but so many people are doing automatic updates that it has become more of an annoyance than a useful feature to me. And it might require something to run in the background :plain:

Well, yes. That is actually what I meant, a button that updates the RDB or something else minor.

I would really only be comfortable with including a cartoon flat-shaded rendition of the controller
Pardon my ignorance, but how does this work? Every controller looks different. Some have all buttons on the front. Some have the trigger buttons on the top and others have them on the back. Some have an extra shift key and some do not. Some have analog sticks and some do not.

I can give this a try, but I'm trying to understand if this is one image that will be used for any controller even though they are different or multiple images that load depending on the controller.

it would be nice if you could make this release open source as well so it can be ported to the XBOX
Isn't work sacred anymore? Some people want every good or great project to become opensource so that it can be modified for different purposes.

Opensource has its downsides as well including PJ64 spinoffs that sometimes end up unstable trash which newbs who learn about this program from a location other than right here might not realize was not an official release. The modofied version crashed their system and when thye find this place they come to complain.

I've seen it dozens of times for other projects and products.

Fine, How about a selectable option to be notified about new releases/updates. This would mean if you did not want to be bothered by a popup indicating that new updates were available & to click here download/install them, you could just uncheck this option. Just have it check on program startup, no background processes necesary. I would rather have this than check the PJ64 site every day to see if a new release is available.

This should make everyone happy.

Also, I would like to see an option for people who are using a N64 controller and such an adaptor as the BOOM 64 adaptor which does not give you full range of motion to the corners. It gives you full up/down/Left/Right, but not the corners. Have PJ64 be able to compensate for that.

Updates to PJ64 are rather infrequent (once every year or two), so an update checker probably won't be worth it.

Just check a decent emulation news site on a regular basis - they do the hard work for you (usually by using a website watching program)

All you have to do is calibrate your controller, so that's not really necessary.

The thumbstick on the N64 controller is octogon shaped. If you watch it in the windows calibration display, it does not go to the corners, only to the edges. It uses the maximum X and Maximum Y for the extremes, and figures it is the same all the way around the controller. You don't have full control through the thumbstick, I can confirm this, because I can play MS FS 2k4 with it, and display the control deflection, and it does not go max elevator and aileron when you are in the corner.

It would be nice to have netplaying tools that don't let it rely on how low your ping is to be able to play decently. It would also be nice to hide the ping number so others can't decide for themselves whether you lag on kaillera or not. Sometimes i'm able to play with no lag and sometimes not, but i think it would be good if netplay on the next pj64 didn't rely on ping as does zbattle doesn't rely on ping for good optimum online capabilities

Future Feature Request: Changue plugins for each game separatelly

Well actually i have made this sugerence at the main forum so i just can quote this from my old message:

Future Feature Request: Changue plugins for each game separatelly

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi there well i dont know if theres some way to configure (previouslly not each time i want to play) each game to use different plugins.

Ex. I want to use on yoshi jabo's d3d 8 and on mario tennis jabo's drd7 or on f-zero use dadeleus sound + glide plugin

Of course i know i can changue the plugins before play on the menu but i dont want keep changuing every time i want to play...

i want to pre-configure each game to use some specific plugin...like as on 1964 last version

Well its all and so if someone know how do it or i think this must added to the next version (idk if really ill a next version just wondering lol) of this excellent (and the best) emulator: Project64

I'm just guessing that you haven't heard of Glide64 0.8 Wonder Plus

One simple feature (or modification) that would be cool, is the use of files instead of registry keys to store the configuration data. It´s easier to manage and edit, and besides, you don´t lose your config if you format your PC.

And I would like to thanks the authors for the great emulator !!!

It is not as simple as you would think it is, Things are slowly moving over to using an ini file instead of the registry. Main .exe is, plugins are not fully just yet.
