if yu wanna play ssbm with 60 fps then buy a gamecube or Wii! Otherwise dont ask such a stupit question which is already asked 1000 times!

Bottomline: it won't run at good framerates whatever you do. Not even the world's fastest PC would be able to play it at full speed. Go read the FAQ...

You could spend $2000 and buy a PC that will run SSBM at 10-15fps with loads of glitches, or you could spend $100 and buy a Gamecube that will run it flawlessly.

I'm sure what he MEANT to ask was how would it perform IN COMPARISON to others.

When he said 'OMG t3h 60fps WOW' stuff, he WAS joking you know. ;)

PLEASE do not give unhelpful answers like that. Clearly he came here looking for help with the emulator, not to be lectured by his mummy to buy a Game Cube with his pocket savings. As goes with all the others that come onto this site. They are not idiots, you know. They came onto this forum looking for some worthy help. Now if you're going to complain either put up or shut up. Sorry, but it had to be said. There are too many people on this forum acting like smartasses thinking they are t3h uber by giving that STUPID and darn right UNHELPFUL TYPICAL response. Sorry I am just very annoyed, after searching through this forum for help, half the threads I see have been spammed with that same old stupid crap we could all do without. DOWN WITH IT! If you must post it, then keep it in your signiture. *Gets out protest banner* I'm sure I speak for many others out on this forum.

The question was, if you read, what kind of PC was necessary to get full speed? The answer? Buy a GC. That only possible way right now. So Toasty's reply was not out of line. And all of this has been written in the FAQ, which if read, should not have been asked, hence the "unhelpful" replies.

Exactly, it HAS been written in the FAQ, in which case why not just refer him TO THE FAQ =D.

Err, if you yourself had read the question, then you would know that that is NOT an answer at all. 'What kind of PC', not 'What kind of platform'....

Sometimes they do... and yet again, they should have read it themselves before asking.

Then I ask you: Which answer is more helpful?
You're screwed; you can't get full performance.
OR
Buy a GC; there's no way you can do it on a PC right now.

With all respect dude isnt that a bit rude from you? i think everyone have the right to ask a question and get a reasonable answer not an insult or a flamming, i know we may not like stuff some people may ask but they ahve the right to get a real answer not an insult, like some say "if you dont have something good to say dont say anything" sorry if this offend anyone but i hate when people do this, is my personal opinion.

---Kazekage back in---

The first answer, my friend, would be the more helpful of the two.

The guy came here looking for help with the emulator, not being told to go and spend $100 freaking dollars.

If he'd had the intention of buying a Gamecube, then he would have done so. However, clearly, he does NOT have that intention, so why bother trying to convince him to buy one? Why bother at all?

The simple answer is that you could not put together a PC capable of running Dolphin (or any GC emulator for that matter) at even 25% speed average in Wind Waker, even if you paid over £5000.

The correct answer would be the second, because it A) says that you can't upgrade your PC to run the emulator and B) it mentions a different solution.
A good and helpful answer would cover the question, and also giving suggestions outside the range of the question, if reasonable.
I'd be devastated if I knew I couldn't play my favorite games, but if someone offered me an alternative solution that I can do and even pay less (!) I'd be thrilled.

Exactly my point - I salute you =D

It is this attitude and response from some of the people on this forum that worries me. :santa:

I'd be devastated if I knew I couldn't play my favorite games, but if someone offered me an alternative solution that I can do and even pay less I'd be thrilled.

Pay less? Do the math - $0-$100=-$100.

Also, that would not be an 'alternative solution', in fact it would not be a solution at all. An alternative, yes perhaps, but not a solution to his problem.

The best PC available; as we've already stated - no PC can run the game at full speed, and few can run it at decent speeds. That'll be $2000 - $3000 for a new computer. But if you're just upgrading parts, then well... get the newest processor. Or maybe the newest single core, because dolphin does not take advantage of dual or quad core.

Pay less? Do the math - $0-$100=-$100.
Do the math...
$2000 - $100 = $1900
$3000 - $100 = $2900
Or for a processor, maybe... ($1000 <--> $500) - $100 = $900 <--> $400

Also, that would not be an 'alternative solution', in fact it would not be a solution at all. An alternative, yes perhaps, but not a solution to his problem.
But an alternative solution. It is good to advise people on other ways to perform things if the main way cannot be done. If you can't get something done by method A, then maybe if someone suggested method B, it might just work.
And as long as the original question is answered "can a PC play this at decent speeds?", then offering an alternative solution that can make the game work at 100% is acceptable.

In his first post he asked, "what kind of pc should be recommended to play Super Smash or any other GCGame at a good framerate?" To me, this implied that he was looking to obtain one of these non-existent PCs, not that he was looking for help running the emulator. So, I indicated that it would be far more cost-effective to buy a Gamecube than to attempt to make, buy or upgrade to a PC that would properly emulate Gamecube games (which is not possible anyway). Since it seemed he was planning on spending money on an expensive PC (or at least upgrades) anyway, I saw no harm in suggesting that he spend his funds on something different that would actually accomplish his goal of "good framerate" gameplay, rather than leave him disappointed.

The reason half the threads in this forum are like this is because numerous new users choose to ignore the (Read this before you post!) FAQs and go ahead and ask the same questions that have been asked countless times before. Identical questions result in identical answers.
