Controller problem

Out of NOTHING, it worked... rofl, this is REALLY weird.....
Problem solved :/. This is weird..
Other question then:
How do you know which controller is ''controller'' 1?
If it doesn't matter in which usb you stick the controller, then I guess it's just not working but i'm spamming all buttons here, and I can't enter an other menu
(Yes it supports direct input).
:/ with this video card playing is weird because not all graphics are completely rendered (or the graphics are appearing where they shouldn't)
Only thing that doesn't work now is sound..
And another question:
Does ''shrink'' or ''wipe'' increase speed in ANY way? Just like your computer is a bit faster after a Defrag.

Geforce 4 mx 420
Pentium 4 2.4 ghz
80 gb drive
512 mb ram
Sound blaster 5.1 Dell Edition
FPS:
Differs from
Intro (title screen): 180 fps
StoryTelling (Intro Movie): 48 fps
Ingame: Differs from 5 to 0.48 O.O (Though I keep seeing Low numbers when I alt+tab. When I don't, i'm good with 5.) 800x600 resolution..

And how it looks... you don't wanna know...
The sea is GRAY, there is SNOW under the trees. All your hud thingy's are visible at the same time... while i'm not even starting yet. Some houses are black and link is 100% red with an exception of 1 or 2 white spots...
You also start in a... black.. house... And the sea... isn't changing in perspective.. so basically it just became an immoveable wall.
It becomes better and better, eyes aren't really working, now everyone's wearing zorro masks or has demon eyes.
