vmsbrowser problem

chankast can't seem to detect the savegame file inside the vmu
- imported from a dci/vmi save using vmsbrowser.

i tried deleting my original save game files in the vmu -> import -> write to vmu; but when i run the game at chankast (MvsC2/DoA), it says it does not detect any save files and proceeds to create a new save/system file in the vmu.

i also tried to delete the save games files -> run the DC bios to chk if it was indeed deleted in the vmu -> import -> ran the DC bios again to chk if it was indeed imported in the vmu.....which was indeed there....however, when i run the game again...it says it cannot find any and proceeds to overwrite the "imported" save file.

im quite sure it's the same game version...besides if the save game's for a different version of the game, it shouldn't overwrite the existing file right?

thanks ^_^

vmsbrowser.exe have to be in the chankast directory
then you load the file vms.bin import your savegame and save the changes.

now there is several savegame file you can import, but they are not recognized, it's happen, ex : for soulcalibur i have a savegame of 9k and a savegame ok 5k, but only the 5k file can be used... i don't know if the savegame of 9k was made in a different format but it don't work with it

heh i've just been trying to work out how to GET a save game off the dc ... vmu tool sort of works ( i see the screen for about 2 seconds ) but no luck .. guess all that work in soul caliber to unlock everyone will just need to be re-done ( funny how hard that was to do when i first got the game , now i can beat the game in 1 try with any char )

I had similar problems with .vms files, but the .dci files work fine. Check the site recommended by mezkal, it's great.

D623932883: You don't seem to know what a .vmi file is. It is not an actual savegame. It is a link to a location on the Internet where the .vms file is. So it's like a .url file for Windows. The same way you cannot save an actual hyperlink with a browser, but only the target of the hyperlink, you cannot import a .vmi file, since it has no game data, but only the address where the Dreamcast is supposed to get the file from. You just need to download the files in .vms or .dci format.
