The DVD cost printing and shipping. To my knowledge, they ship worldwide. I could check, though.

You can get a copy mailed to you, and when RC1 comes out they send that too, i believe they ship outside the US as well.

Don't think it'll cost cheap for me though.

Ok I just installed Vista on my desktop (i won't bother my laptop ):
AMD AthlonXP 2700+
512 DDR RAM
20 GB (5400rpm)/ 120 GB(7200rpm)
Ati Radeon 9600 PRO.

First impression, it looks great and it runs like poo.
So first thing i did was downloading the gfx drivers from ati.com, installing it took quite some time, but the system speed was a little bit quicker.

But still, it feels slow / bad responsive and playing a simple mpg video seems to need a lot of cputime.

Anyone which having this same kind of expirience?

(hmm XGL on linux worked even better an almost looked better ;P)

I think it's normal, that happened to me on XP as well. On my firsts days with it.

hmm strange, i couldn't get the games running.

In my case i heard some sounds but the play area stayed black... might be these ati drivers...

Probably video driver support, i know the test rigs sites have been getting can play pretty well with the nvidia drivers though.

Whew, I shouldn't fret. I'm running Vista now and so far it seems fine.
But this looks like XP v2.0. Where Aero?

Just looks like XP 2.0. Where's all the cool stuff like the 3d alt+tab thingy we saw on a trailer? There has to be more to it than this :/

Btw, anyone else having trouble activating Vista? It says my product key is already used, even though I recieved it from microsoft's via email. Weird.

To use the 3d alt-tab use the windows key + tab.



I had no trouble activating Vista, I just clicked hte button and it worked.

I'm telling a friend to download it for me since I'm on 56k. However I still won't check it out until july. I plan to install it in my main rig (no way I'm going to install it in a P4 1.6 Ghz 256 Mb PC133 Geforce2MX)

My only gripe with 3D window switching is lack of anti aliasing.

Downloading as we speak. I was about to try out Fedora Core 5, but I'll put that on hold and use my free partition for this. Gotta put my new Athlon X2 4200+ to the test.
