What's new

Video/Sound not in sync.

Hey, I'm having serious problems because no matter if I overclock, underclock, or leave the sh4 at 100, my audio chooses to go it's own speed. If I underclock on Sonic Adventure I can get even the highest available resoultion to go faster than full speed but the sound just drags along at around 20/60fps. I heard that enabling VSYNC might help, but I don't know how to do this. If someone can give me some advice or tell me how to enable VSYNC for DirectX I'd really appreciate it.

Jess you're not thinking clearly. Synchronisity can only be somewhat guaranteed on alpha program like Chankast. Then you add the overlocking of the virtual SH4. What did you expect? It's not perfect and its not a game. Its a simulation of a DC that's not fully complete and you're stressing it further. Don't expect miracles. Want a DC game to work as expected? Use a real DC.

If you guys would just answer me i wouldn't have to make a million threads. I'll break it down REEEEEEAL slow so simple people like you can comprehend...

Someone told me to use VSYNC..........period. I searched all over the net and in the control panel............period. I can't find how to force VSYNC.............period. I just want to enjoy my games.......................period. Will you all stop acting idiotic and acutally answer ONE of my questions without the added in "you're so repetive and blah blah blah" crap?.............question mark. Maybe if someone would help me without being so annoying, I'd shut up and ask for less assistance all the time!.............exclamation point. NOW......DO..........YOU.........uuuuuunderrrrrrsssstandddddddd mmmmmmmeeeeeee-e-e-e-e-e-e-e? GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.

You're an asshole. I hope you get banned.

see? this is EXACTLY what I mean! I get in trouble whenever I respond to everyone else's attitude! I just asked ONE simple question! Is it possible to force VSYNC or not? What an easy question that SOMEONE here has to have an answer to. I get banned for calling someone an asshole, but people like you can do it without any second thoughts! Just ANSWER MY QUESTION AND IT'LL BE OVER WITH! Knock it off!

wow. it wouldn't be the first time..pssh.

Editing your post to hide your insulting ways will not save you. As I said you're an asshole. Only with the above two quotes: Doubly so. Go BUY some DC games and a real Dreamcast. Leave emulation to those who wish to contribute.

I answered your question. READ IT. There is no further answer. Your misguided theories and advice on VSYNC have no application here. Chankast is Not a game. Am I making myself clear?

Chankast uses DirectX and therefore is effected by all of the options that you set for it. btw, I have a Dreamcast and a sweet collection too. i don't need people like you to tell me what to do. you obviously think that i expect this to run perfect, well, for your information, i've been into emulation since the early 90s and have worked on a few emulators myself. sure, they failed, but at least they worked well enough to see that i have some brains. i just wanted to know if there's an app out there or driver that forces vsync. there is for opengl, so why can't there be one for directx. it was just a simple yes or no question and people like you turn all of my simple, harmless threads into a comedic soap opera. all you had to do was say that vsync wouldn't help me and then i would've stopped. can't you see? i overreact, but if i could just get a straight answer every now and then we'd never have to go through this. i'm sorry, i truely am, but you don't even seem to see that i just wanted a simple answer and you gave it to me through repeatedly bashing my intelligence. just forget it. i'm sorry, ok?

Peace brothers... Stop the war. :)
To make Chankast run at 60fps (so that the sound can be synchronized with video) you have to go to "display properties" (where you change resolution etc.) and then "advanced". After that enable Vsync (Vertical sync) from your video card configuration and then set the screen refresh rate to 60hz from the monitor configuration. Then run Chankast in fullscreen.

PS No1: jessman1988: I agree with cooliscool that a "Jessman's Problems" thread should be created. :p

PS No2: mezkal: Stop double posting. :term:

PS No3: PsyMan: Stop playing it smart.

Thank you very much. you got straight to the point and because i set my screen to 60hz is runs closer than ever! i still can't find any vsync options in my display settings, but at least the sound is somewhat in sync. you know, i wish that we COULD stop the fighting, but when some people get mad, they only care about what they think is right. i may be dumb, ok? but for the millionth time, i just asked if there's something online that i can use to force vsync...

trotterwatch, thanks for not flaming me like everyone else has. you have no clue how much i appreciate it.

Dude. Don't go pointing fingers. You're the person who decided that being rude and impatient was the better option. Yes cool gave some attitude. But in doing so he was neither rude nor childish. His comments were generalised. That's part of tolerance. He made his position clear. I, on the other hand, actually answered your question. Psyman did too. But it will make no difference. If, as you say, you have programmed some emulators (I'm not talking scripting in P-SPICE here) then you realise the futility of your quest for VSYNCH. As I said previously you're not thinking clearly. You're just not. Reacting angrily to one line of someone's attitude in the way that you CHOSE too is reflective of some of your other posts where you just drop a one liner and expect detailed hand-holding to make your game work. I realise that you're younger than me. I was a hot head too when I was young. But it does not excuse you from the CHOICES you make. It just makes us older members understand why you make them.

Yes, you sort of apologised. But you still edited your post and still maintain an air of attitude. This site is set up as a way for Chankast and Dreamcast enthusiasts to get together and discuss how best to make use of the tools and experience we have at our disposal to better Chankast's development. Nothing more Nothing less. It's not set up so you can run your DC games on your PC. Learn the difference please.
