Calling all Linux users, ATi needs you! Ati has just opened their doors in regards to wanting Linux beta testers. This taken from Catalyst Maker:

I Am looking for some Linux users that want to beta test upcoming CATALYST. This time I am looking for people that own "powered by ATI" cards and run Linux

Please be sure to hit this thread in our forums. There you'll find all the info you need to apply for this program.

Good Luck!

It's good that they are now seemingly going to write more support into the Linux drivers. Got to admit the ATI driver team is really getting it's shit together nowadays.

It's about time they got their act together over this, at the moment the only realistic option is NVIDIA if you are using linux.

Btw this should be in tech talk ;) :D

More generally, it's about time they work seriously on their driver....
Currently on windows and linux it's ati with fantastic hardware but bad drivers or nvidia with decent enough hardware and fantastic drivers... And i prefer the nvidia solution coz at least it's stable..
It has started to change but they really have to change their reputation to convince me now...

Hacktarux, you haven't been keeping up with the scene at all if you still have that antiquated opinion.

nVidia's drivers have been losing quality DRAMATICALLY since the NV3x launch (for example - and this is a real accidental bug - FX5600 and higher, in Splinter Cell, there are patches of water with no PIXEL SHADERS of all things).

In any case, though, I'll just offer that I'm using a Radeon 9500 Pro, and the only 3D thing I have that causes problems for me is N64 emulation... because the plugins seem to use some commands of some sort that ATi doesn't support, which must be rare in normal games.

That's been fixed in the 45.24 Detonators. ;) The problem now isn't who has better drivers. Because both ATi and Nvidia have good enough drivers that a direct comparison is too subjective.
