it would work but i guess slower then as on xp! Cause vista alone will do a bad relationship with your hardware and wont work like a charm;)

Will Vista magically make dolphin run full speed and flawlessly? No. Will it make it run any faster and any less flawed? Almost certainly not.

I think Kenvin is mistaking an OS update with a hardware update.

If you want Dolphin to run at a higher FPS, invest in state-of-the-art hardware, because that's the only thing you can do to raise that magic number. Everything else is up to the brilliance of the developers.

There's a reason Vista requires higher specs than XP; it uses up more resources - resources that will not be able to be used for applications like emulators.

*resources which just used for some gimmicks with the desktop! But those (unnecessary) resources will really blown down your system!

Sorry, but there is definitely NO reason to use vista atm. It's slow, you need massive machines to get it working well and then it's still not as usable as xp. Plus... it's nothing but a colourful xp with neat effects, a new networking stack and a new security model (which sucks).

*cough* Useless to YOU maybe, but those "effects" can be disabled to get a faster system. Some of us wants shiny desktops you know?

That's pure nonsense. Vista can run well on a number of machines. You don't need "massive machines" to run Vista. It's still as usable as XP, though there are of course, compatibility problems, that will be solved with time.

No, Vista has a lot of changes under the hood. What you may SEE is not much unlike XP, but there are plenty of changes that makes it safer than XP as well as additional power saving, for one thing. And the new security model does not suck. And if it's UAP you're referring to, it can be disabled. No harm, no pain.

For real o_O? Vista does "only" need 512 mb of ram dude! I think win98 did use 64m ;) Dolphin works there but i dont think at the same speed like on xp!

But i wont discuss with you cause you would know it better^^

With those unpleasable hotfixes, yeah. :p

Do you know a machine that has less than 256 / 512 MB memory? If it does, then it probably shouldn't use either XP or Vista.

Umm, I was more thinking of compability software & drivers. You know, updated ones that support Vista fully.

@ doomulation : I dont want that only my os will keep 512mb ram! I just give 512 mb ram (100€) for almost nothing... someone with (standart) 1 GB ram will "loose" the half of his system! That would be consider!

It doesn't eat 512 mb memory and memory is cheap. Windows will allow for other applications to use that memory. Again, disable the pretty effects and Windows will use less. And we'll probably see tools that can configure how Windows uses memory.

I could not install vista on the (slow) pc from my mother (256mb ram)...
It told me blah blah blah.... windows requires 512 mb ram blah blah ... couldnt install .. end!
And well i dont have too much money to spend it for memorys randomly!

I'm sure there are ways to bypass that if one just looked. And memory isn't expensive. But that 256 MB machine kinda tells me that it isn't good enough to run XP/Vista anyway.

Xp does run on it.... my mother does have no problem to wait 2 min for the internet explorer ;)
Good as enough she doesnt know what hardware differences are between my and her pc ^^
