I reserved a copy of Twilight Princess. It was supposed to be released in November sometime. First, they told me it was pushed back to April 2006. A little while later they told me it was going to be for the Revolution. I can understand Nintendo wanting a Zelda game at launch, but which is it, Gamecube or Revolution?

this sounds vaguely as if nintendo will just skip the gamecube altogether and go straight to the revolution with this game...which is understandable (top-notch launch game and all) but not exactly nice for everyone who has been waiting for this for quite some time now. twilight princess is pretty much the only reason i am still holding on to my gamecube nowadays.

From what I gather, the Revolution will be able to play gamecube discs, and certain new GC titles will contain extra features only when played on the revolution/N5/...whatever it ends up being called (remember the 64DD?).

Just speculation though...

Didn't one of the Zelda: Oracle games for the Gameboy have an extra feature while used in the Game Boy Advance like this one would on Revolution? I heard about it a while ago, but never had a copy of the games to try it out. Not to the same extent as to change the gameplay. (Maybe, Iwata mentioned something about being able to use it [Revolution's controller] as if swinging a sword in the keynote.)

I can't say I was much anticipating this game for Gamecube, but it did look like it would be one hell of a game. Pushing it back so far will cause the Revolution to hit harder, but it will lose a lot of ground the Gamecube could have covered. It seems like a bad move to me.

That's what I gather from the article. Twilight Princess will be a 'cube title (confirmed), but when played in the Revo, which is confirmed backwards compatible, it can take advantage of the motion-sensitive controller.

Interesting quote from GameSpy concerning the delay:

When probed, Nintendo's response was that the talented development team needed more time to make the final product a better game.

Fact or fiction? While any game can always stand to use more time -- Duke Nukem Forever, anyone? -- there's a school of though that thinks the delay might be something more than what had been officially stated. Conspiracies abound, the most feasible scenario is that Nintendo simply wants to hold off in order to give the GameCube hardware more legs as it stretches its lifecycle into 2006. Aside from Twilight Princess, there's not really a whole lot coming in for GameCube in 2006.

I sort of expected Nintendo to secretly do this (port it to Revo instead) when they announced it had been delayed from it's Nov/Dec launch. My girlfriend has been waiting for this one, so hence why I've been watching it.

I'll be very surprised if Link explores the GameCube again.

Although this is supposedly confirmed for the cube, It still wouldn't surprise me if it ended up being a revolution launch title.

?????????????????????????
It's a gamecube title. But we WILL probably see nintendo trying to hype buyers to buy a revolution to play it, since it IS backwards compatible and because of this whole... being able to use the revolution controller to play gc games thingy ... or at least for this game :)

i gotta admit the idea of swinging this thing around is exhilarating and stimulating...yet painfully embarassing if anyone would see you doing it...
