Total system lockdown while using Nemu

This is the second time this has happend to me in a row... I've decided to take on Zelda: OoT from start to finish in Nemu, but I find that after playing for a while (like an hour+) the game freezes and the whole system locks up 100%. The keyB dosn't work, ctrl-alt-dlt dosn't work, ctrl+esc, alt-tab, esc, etc.

I'm using Nemu's standard plugins (Jabo's had some errors in one of the Kokuri houses and start menu).

Btw, I'm running this on my server and find that during the lockdown the ICS (intenet connection sharing) is still operational and I'm still able to access my shared hard drives over the network. What's up?

My system stats are as follows:

CPU:
Dual pIII 933mhz, 133mhz bus.

Storage (RAID may have an influence):
ATA100 - 20GB HDD - connected via RAID
ATA100 - 40GB HDD
ATA?? - 7GB HDD
ATA?? - 4.2GB HDD

Video:
Nvidia Vanta 8meg (Dettonator driver support)

DirectX:
DirectX 9.0a

Thanks :)

This could be out of left field, but since you mention the raid thing, does the raid setup have any sleep/hibernate modes? The only reason I ask is because I used to have a Western Digital HD that locked up on occassion coming out of sleep mode, which cause a crash.

Just a thought, good luck!

Hardware problem?

Your Pentium III processor may be overheating.

You should check your processor temperature with MBM 5
or another hardware temperature monitor.

Pentium IIIs for overheat protection have a feature
that halts the processor when the heat sink comes
unclipped or when the temperature reaches approximately
185 F.

Maybe it's caused by a problem with load balancing
using dual processors.

Nope nope and nope again. When I built this system I was very cautious about the pIIIs very fine archituecture and its "overheatingness". I'm happy to say that I'm able to keep my system at a stable *checks PC Alert III* 30-35°C. On rare occasions the main cpu bumps to 40 but not only for a few seconds. When I 1st installed them I put the Arctic Silver III on incorrectly and the temp as averaging 50-55°C. Heh.

Another nice try though. Anyways, if that happend I would not be able to access anything on that machine, as it would not be able to do any processing. Also my whole network would shut down.

Also the day that Nemu was freezing up, my room was fairly cool. Heh, it's actually a bit too warm atm. The cpus are still staying nice and cool though

Anyways, I have an alarm set to go off if the temp reaches or rises above 75º which is the overheating zone for the pIII flip chips. Sheesh. The slot1 pIIIs have a max of only 60º!!!

If it locks up, it locks up. I don't know what you expect us to do since we can't magically command your computer to not lock up. Why don't you try on another computer or better yet another emulator to see what the problem is.

This brings me to another issue. Why do you have to complain so much? Looking at the forum, you have three topics all complaining about this wonderful emulator in one way or another. All the topics have already been answered in the pass if you bother looking through the post. Sheesh no offense but it's blantant laziness like this that offends the authors. I think you should be more considerate next time.

Only 75 F!!!?

That's overkill!!! As long as the processor temperature
don't get past 160 F, it's not too hot.

My Athlon T-bird @ 900 mhz (not overclocked) usually don't get below 98 F, even
when idle.

75 °Celsius. Thats what... 160 °F?

Edit:

167 °F

So my cpus average around 86-95 °F, give or take a few.

A pretty cool place.
