I went to my local video store one day and happened to see a game on the shelf called thousand arms. Now this was a few years back and I was like "Hey Anime! All animes cool!" So I through 27$ at the stunned video clerk and ran the hell out of there dieing to try this game. I played it for at least 12 hours a day, until I beat it. Now this was 6 years ago, I decided to start playing the game again and I'm still like woah this game rocks.
What im surpised about though is no one has heard of this game before, all my friends are like wha? and hmmm? and they give me the same stares I give my math teacher.
So I propose a poll, I want to see how good this game really is, or if it's just me and a few game junkies who like it.

I remember when i saw the preview of that game in Electronic Gaming monthly... i was like 'Whoa, i gotta get that game". So i did, and, well... it was a good game; not 'great' but I'm an RPG coniseur so my standards are kinda high.

As to 'all anime is good", well... lies. The days before the coperations saw the marketability in anime as a cash cow (atleast in North America) were the golden days of anime in my opinion. Movies like 'Akira', "Ninja Scroll", and "Macross Plus" where truely great and mind expanding. The trash you see every saturday on the cartoon network is stupid formulated crap that coperate scientist concocted in the wake of Pokemon's astounding and deserved success; (good first season, good games).

Anything that gains too much popularity and profitability becomes tainted and becomes used as a tool for money making and loses it original beauty. Of course, everyone is out to make money, but its when money is the primary incentive that you lose artistic and narritive excellence. I absolutley despise the crap they put out now for the most part. I can see right through it, its like a formula that can make any trashy shit into a popular phenomenon.
The same goes for music... music theory allows you to formulate anything you desire ( usually whatever is popular at the time to make the most money).

So, music companies can scientifically produce an album thats gonna sell because they can put together the particular elements that make a marketable song. You dont even know how to sing anymore because you can change the way your voice sounds on recording...

Art comes from a place deeper than stupid anti-christ science, a good song or a good anime should come from experiences in your life or things that effected you so profoundly that its beauty cant be described with only words.. it needs to be reflected with sounds and/or images to relate that acroamatic message.

Meh, and sometimes it just comes from nowhere and it just looks or sounds cool.

K... I kinda went overboard on the rambling i think.. I'm done lol.

Edit: Bah! I just realized you posted "all anime's cool" which is a subjective opinion and therefore my rhetoric against capitalist anti-christ modern anime producers was pointless.. nonetheless I'll keep it posted for others to learn from the wise tye stik alpha proto mesa-wizard.

so thats the way to know if a game (or any work of art) is valid or not, if it is, the feeling that bled down into the work will touch the audience and therefore stay forever, this is why we still remember Akira and nevermind all the saturday morning ones.

Oh! Since where on the subject of Thousand Arms... it seemed to have trouble with ePSXe 1.6.0 for me (when you got past the first couple of seconds of playing it did something wierd... i cant remember). Anyways, the problem was fixed with the magical and wondrous "-noauto" command at the end of the "Target" line in the shortcut properties.

So anyways... just thought i'd advert potential problems for anyone who wants to try the game out. Infact i recomend playing it after booting it up again (thanks to this post).

Glad I could help guys. Ya I'm so happy I completely came across that game by chance. All my friends love it to, its pretty amusing.
The game has decent graphics, an amusing plot and it's just plain fun. It also has voices for some of the characters, I mean how great is that for a psx game?
It's only problem was the complete lack of publicity.

Oh ya, in regards to that epsxe problem. I haven't really played it that far, just past the first cave, but it froze already a few times and I had to restart because it usually froze as I was saving, infact I hit savestate, then save and it froze and when I tried to exit the menu with the savestate it also froze, so I got locked in.
